Just checking my spare wheel the other day on my Furby VRS and noticed it states not to exceed 50MPH! :(

As this is full size but steel, and orginal tyre (not space saver) i dont get it ? :confused:

IIRC the same spare wheel and tyre combination is fitted to other VAG models with larger standard wheels, therefore would not be an equal match. Additionally some cars have directional tyres so it could make a difference.

Pull the sticker off and all will be okay

what size is the spare?? they are normally 15" aren't they??

My Furby vRS has a full size steel 16" wheel and no sticker, so I think I can do normal speeds as the tyre is a mich pilot and it's W speed rated.

Been mentioned a few times on here. I cant actually see why it is speed rated as it has a full size tyre on and isn't directional.

The only thing that is physically different is the fact its a steel wheel and not an alloy so thus a different weight. It would pass an MOT with it fitted so I don't see why the limit is on there, very odd.

Well just had 10k service so asked about speed restriction on spare wheel and was told its a tyre just for spare wheels and must not go over 50mph!

So does this mean they make Dangrous tyres just for spares it looks the same as the other 4 to me, I did get the impresion he did not want to talk about it which i took to mean he did not know.:confused:

He was clearly an idiot.

As Ross says, they are just normal wheels, with normal tyres on. Only if it is directional, and it is not going in the right direction should you be cautious.

I use 4 of those wheels for track days.

i had the spare tyre put on my alloy wheel when i had to send the tyre off for repair and the tyre is the same as the original one on there from new and i was also told by the garage that as it is not a directional tyre not to worry about the speed marking
