Squeaky windscreen wipers = rub with vinegar?

Featured Replies

Haven't heard this suggestion. Yes, another screenwash thread, but VW parts centre guy said that some washers are harsh and can perish the rubber. A rub-over with e.g. Cockpit Shine perhaps? I asked. He said not, but with a spot of vinegar might help preserve them a little longer.

Handy tip for squeaky washers? :ne_nau:

well vinegar does preserve natural products fruit and veg so perhaps has the same effect on rubber but the veg etc is soaked in vinegar rather than just a spot of.

maybe the vinegar can be used to clean the screen and threfore stop squeeking...or maybe make it worse?

Vinegar is actually very good at cleaning glass, might be very good for chips in the windscreen too! :)

As stolen from DGW on brisky IIRC :P

I discovered that trick on Brisk about 6 months back and went out to the garage to try it - works a treat - my wipers were really noisy and now they're not. Hope that this has now been added to fabia tips, octavia tips, etc
