what valve/solenoid is this?

Featured Replies

guys,

i went for a remap today with red dot racing. the guys were superb and we managed to get the car up to 220lb tourque and 215bhp. i know this sounds underrated but there was a problem.

there is a valve/solenoid that sits just off the dump valve that manages the wastegate. What is the name of this as mine has an intermitent fault. Is this the n75 valve or is it a T5 valve? the guys there couldnt remember and before i call Skoda/VW thoguht id ask here.

They have recommended i replace it wtih the one off a 225bhp engine to give me the required throughput. The car has been put back to standard for now as they have said i can get a better curve and more response once iv changed this.

thanks in advance.

Do a search on N75. You'll find plenty of discussion.

ok will do, but does thsi sound like the n75 valve?

yep.

ok so final question - if this is the valve, have people run the standard one with uprated power? is there a difference between this one and ones of the higher powered 225bhp engine?

no point in uprating it as its only a control device. it'd be like fitting the accelerator pedal from a ferrari and expecting more power :)

The N75 is simply a valve which controls how much pressure the actuator see's, its the ecu's way of controlling bost electronically, like air injectors fitted to cossies etc.

fair play. off to a VW dealer to get one then :) and then i shall be back with figures after the remap :)

i have to say even at the figures we had the car felt swift. shame that it kept spiking on the power.

you need a bigger turbo for real power :D

i think 4wd or RW would be a benefit as well. dont worry iv done the whole big power car thing. the skoda is the comprimise between fun and normality

Is the standard valve an N75 or N75J?

n75 and n75j are near enough the same thing.

What i have foudn out is this -

there are a number of variants for the n75 valve. F/G/H/J and K.

The Skoda vrs has the F variant and i believe the G is not available anywhere.

The H/J are the ones fitted to the 225bhp engines. The H is ideal for modified cars and smooths out the bhp/tourque curves and assists in eleviating boost spikes. The J is a "performance" version which gives more improved power apparently this is 1-2psi increase in boost which though arguably not a lot it does help remapped cars.

VAG Parts OE parts from the people who really know OE parts! (part number 034906283j) have the both teh F and J variants in stock so i shall be purchasing the J variant prior to the remap happening again.

The J version is actually from an Audi S2 (and hence bloked from VW dealerships). I got mine from Vagparts and it has smoothed out my previously surging at part throttle IP map.
