Parking sensors for Fabia?

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering where it would be possible to get parking sensors fitted to my car, and how much it would cost (specifically for the rear). I was parking up this morning in my car, and half of the spaces were shut. So I reversed into one of the spaces that wasnt shut. The visibility out of my back window is very poor, but I could see the "wall" behind. Slowly I reverse into it, and then get out, only to see a metal "bumper" sticking out of the wall, less than an inch off my bumper and exhaust. Just one more inch and it would have left my car in a right mess, even though it appeared I had plenty of room behind me when looking back.

Its only a matter of time before something happens (even though I was careful, I suspect that even the slightest impact would have done significant damage), so I think a parking sensor is pretty much essential for the car I have.

I think Skoda do offer them as an option for the Fabia,

and another thing, youre right, you would have done lots of damage. I reversed my Saloon into a wall at it's "Creeping speed" (Auto) without touching the gas, I wasn't even doing walking speed when I hit. It smashed and dislocated the bumper, scuffed and scratched the bumper and smashed the Rear light cluster!

All the parts are listed on ETKA, but there doesn't seem to be a retrofit kit as such. There again, I can't find one for the Octavia but I believe that it does exist.

The rearward visibility isn't very good on the Fabia, is it....? I just fitted one of these fresnel lens reversing aids onto the rear window of SWMBO's vRS. That helps a bit and is a lot cheaper and easier to fit than a set of reversing sensors.

Thats actually a pretty good suggestion Schtum, I might have a look into that. In the meantime, I will avoid parking backwards for the time being, as you never know what is behind you... :p

Or...look at the space before you back into it... :D

Fabia drivers - don't know they're born! :P

I fitted parking sensors to my Passat estate after an incident and am thinking of fitting them to my wife's Fabia. As people say it's amazing how much damage even a slight parking error can cause. I accidently reversed the Passat into the front of a Fiesta and my tow ball caused about

True - can you imagine trying to park an Octy? Talk about a tank...

the sensors on the octy are factory fit IIRC so i'd assume the fabia is the same.

on the up side mine has them and they are very useful (although annoying at times) but they do pick up every little thing behind the car when reversing.

i was told that they wouldnt be needed, and i suppose i'm starting to rely on them TBH but i wouldnt be without them in the octy now.

I have the OEM parking sensors on my Octavia combi and wouldn't be without them.

However, to retro-fit these, they don't necessarily have to be Skoda type.

Cobra do a reverse sensor kit, as indeed I am sure do many other co.s - you could make enquiries at a good car audio retailer - I am sure you can get a retro-fit at a good price!

I got the Skoda sensors fitted to my Octavia at the dealer, normally around

both tavia and furby reversing sensors are listed in the accessories book i can fit both of them...

Fabia reversing sensors are available, retrofit, from your Skoda dealer. Approx

Cheers fellas, I'll give it some thought...

Just another quick suggestion...

My parents have a Honda Civic and had a reversing sensor fitted when they purchased it as a Honda Dealer fit option. The cost was about

;) Having had them on my previous car ( Tavia ) fitted as an optional extra, I found I didnt need then on my black Furby, Was offerd them when i ordered my furby, around

I have parking sensors on my Fabia Estate. They are a bit of a nuisance at times because they are almost too sensitive. They start to beep when I am too far away from the other car and go continous when there is still several inches away. I would prefer a sensitivity control.

I got a set from Ebay, the guy has plenty of them. Cost

I started this thread, and I have to say I did get used to it quickly enough, no need now. After coming from a Micra, that is like a goldfish bowl on wheels it was slightly hard to adjust to at first :D

I am getting a local ICE shop to fit Reversing Sensors to my Fabia vRS. - cost is about 125, exactly same as Skoda OEM

Can give you his number if you PM - he generally works the South/West Yorkshire area doing ICE, SatNav, Handfree kits and interestingly Window tinting

My dealer refused to fit reversing sensors to my vRS - claimed it couldn't be done owing to the special construction of the bumper on a vRS. Let us know how you get on.

Just finished putting back together the back of the car!! Nothing too major, but the hardest part was making the actual sensors fit.

I'm quite pleased with the end result. I would have like to have painted the sensors, but as the instructions were only picture diagrams it didn't say if you could colour code them or not, so thought best not to.

Have taken a couple of pics. Neighbours must have thought I was mad!!!

I see you opted for them below the line, the other pictures show them above the line.

Also, I wonder why the kit only has 3 sensors?

I bought the kit from eBay for
