Featured Replies

Morning people!!:)

What do you find really annoying in your Fabia that you find a pain and would like to change if you could?

I'd like to hear your points. so while you got some spare time at work drop a few notes down here!

this is towards my research I've been up all night doing my ergonomics project thats in for Friday and i need to have something i can redesign and make a "sketch" model to replace the bit thats a problem.

thanks very much!

sorry i meant ergonomics:P in the cabin... didn't mean the handling. :)

The position of the boot and fuel flap release levers, with and without the doors closed, also they feel the same and can be hit and miss to identify in the dark.

Some nice easy ones for you:

The seat height adjustment lever is too high and is often knocked when entering/exiting the vehicle resulting in the seat height being altered.

The power point socket (cigarette lighter) is in the centre consul which is not ideal for windscreen or dash mounted systems.

The lack of a "dead pedal" on the right side as well as on the left side to rest your foot. My Golf has this and it's a nice little feature when driving with the cruise control operating, it's somewhere to rest your right foot giving easy & quick access to the pedals again. And a "cruise control active" light on the dash (as in the Golf) would be nice as well. ;)

I don't have a boot release in my vRS....or do I???

A few times I've gone to hit the clutch but my bootcut jeans have gotten caught in the lever to move the seat back & forth....scary moment!

Man, you must almost cross your legs to get your jeans caught on that lever! :D

I think the seat height adjustment lever is a pain - I always have a lanyard on my keyring and it nearly always gets caught on this lever!

The 12v socket by the handbrake too, what a stupid place to put it.

Steering wheel controls for the stereo would be safer and better ergonomics.

My wife also thinks the headlight switch is too far down / far away

:) Yeh on a long journey I don't use the clutch rest, I tend to sit my left foot flat on the floor....has happened a fair few times now.

:iagree:

that's how i broke mine:P

Does the Fabia have a "reach" steering adjustment? Can't remember, but it's something that would be good for people with ill-proportioned arms and legs. :o Having driven an E36 BMW, I also liked the "wrap around" style dash so all the switches on the far side were still in easy reach, rather than having to reach over for them. Lumbar adjustment on the seats, steering wheel mounted controls (cruise, radio, phone and flappy paddles) and a HUD would also be good too.

Hmmmmm - I have a feeling I may have just specced up a very expensive Fabia

I think he meant bonnet release. I've made that boot / bonnet mistake before !

|| Seats generally too high i think making the driving position more like a MPV then a lil warm hatch, i.e. bent knees rather then semi stretched, can knock into steering wheel sometimes which is a bit poo.

|| I tend to need a lumber rest if im driving over 3-4hrs in a day cause my back starts aching a little (im only 20! :S).

|| When motorway driving my right arm rests on the side door bit holding the wheel, slight awkaward position as its slightly further away than i would like it, therefore making you have less control over the wheel.

|| Cig lighter in the most stupid place possible!! when charging tom tom it obstrucks the handbrake

|| Left arm rest would be nice.. will get that for the next fabia im getting

|| Rear passengers sit too high (perhaps its because I have my setting has lowest)

Thats all i can moan about atm, but these are very minor things really :D

One thing I hate is blank switches - in the Fabia one of them has nothing that can possibly go there. Not too much of an issue, just a minor irritation.

I think the on/volume **** should be on the drivers side of the stereo for easy adjustment on the move - or as mentioned above, steering wheel/stalk controls are good here.

A CLOCK would be bloody awesome, one the passengers can see too. Nothing worse than scrolling through the MFD looking for the time. (Luckily my Passat has the clock up permanently).

I agree about the power socket - but its also handy having one there for charging mobiles etc. Pehaps a second one in the a pillar or kick panel would be handy for screen/dash mounted kit.

Otherwise, the Fabia really is one of the best in its class for ergonomics imho.

basically anything to do with the seat!!....they are too high which result in very sore leg, theres no support under your legs (knees) as seats are not long enough and the back seats look like something out of a an american 70's motor with bench seats....just only worse!!....the material is too slippy so your butt keeps sliding forward!!

k:)

Coming from a BMW, the dash in the Fabia doesn't feel very driver orientated. I personally like the centre part of the dash where the stereo is etc to face the driver slightly. Things are more to hand and it feels more like a cockpit. :D

He definitely means boot release. Maybe something that has been dropped on the newer cars but the older ones had a boot and fuel filler release on the floor in front of the driver's seat.

Chris

The vRS doesn't have a boot release catch thingy. :D

I'm glad the fabia doesn't have a clock up all the time, whenever I drive with a clock I always think I'm gonna be late so speed up :)

Seats: High adjustable passengers side, and lumber support for both please :D

seats again - the lever for adjusting for/aft position protrudes too far from the front of the seat squab, especially on passenger side

The fag lighter is a pain. I also have an odd one- sometimes my left shoe gets caught on the bottom of the centre cosole as I try to get out. I always found the OE stereo a pian, but I'm not fussed about steering wheel controls.

Everything else is fine.

The speedo can be seen from the passenger seat resulting in a whining noise in my left ear when the missus is in the car!

I would like to change the stereo and have a built in Sony radio (or some other firms) like some fords get.

Also have a different speedo that doesnt just jump from 90 to 110. Which i find annoying as there is plenty of space to fit.

I agree with the 12v plug placement. Its annoying when I use my Road Angel, as the wires trail along the centre console up over the dashboard.

Proper head rests that dont rattle!

I would move the fuel cap opener to a solenoid push button on the dash.

I would like foot well lights front and rear. They are handy if you drop something in the dark as the interior lights are never bright enough.

Oh and sound proof chamber fitted to the front passenger seat when the boss moans im driving too fast:D

thats brilliant, thanks for your time:) noted all the main ones that kept coming up seems like the rest of the car is pretty well designed then.

Cheers

Leon:)
