Stick with std vRS rear wiper, or go aero?

Featured Replies

Hey guys, not been on here much. And when I have it's been to lurk! :o

Soaking up all the info, you know?

Anyway, I'm thinking of changing the rear wiper of my vRS, just to change the look a little? Saw on VAG-Parts the Aero rear wiper from Golf and Polo etc. Has anyone done this swap, and what do you think? Any photos about.

Thanks.

Nobody with an opinion? :(

When i first bought the car last year i thought the original wiper was the better looking of the two so didn't bother replacing it when i replaced the front wipers with aeros.......

Now, 12 months later and i've changed my mind a little..... I'm currently waiting the arrival of my rear aero wiper from an Ebay auction..... (Paid for it over a week ago now with supposedly next day delivery from Nottingham and still no sign!!!!! Tomorrow no arrival and i'm getting in touch with ebay about it!!!). It only takes 5 mins to swap out anyway so if i don't like it i'll switch it back again.

I fitted the rear aero on my Polo GTi which involved using the dremmel to cut off the last couple of inches of blade due to the smaller rear screen on the Polo mk5..... Looking forward to just being able to straight swap this time. :D:D:D

Cheers

Dave.

i have fitted the Polo aero arm/blade to my VRS , looks neater , but to tell you the truth it doesn't really wipe any better , doesn't last as long before it needs changing and it is approx an inch shorter than the original blade

Thanks for the comments. I might get one and see how it looks.

I don't know if you're still after photo's but i've attached some of the wiper now i've fitted it earlier today..... There's a couple of comparision pics with the mrs's car and then mine..... Then a couple to show what the back end of the car is like with the new aero wiper fitted.

Cheers

Dave.

I don't like it... but that's my opinion, if u like it go 4 it!

I suppose with the aero wiper being shorter and thinner, people can see your stickers better.

Not sure I'm keen on that for the rear. It looks too skinny to me.

Am unsure about whether or not to fit these to the fronts either when mine wear out. Do they perform that much better than the standard ones?

What's the lifespan like on them?

I replaced my Mondeo ones with flat blades and they perform noticeably better, although it's probably not a fair test as the ones that came off were knackered! They look a whole lot better than the standard ones too and mine have been on for over a year now and still work perfectly....

Chris

Hmm...might do then. I like the kits that come from Wiperblades.co.uk as they look profressional. If the performance is improved then I will buy some.

Not cup of tea but, at the end of the day its what you fancy

Does this rear wiper work better than the factory one?

Does this rear wiper work better than the factory one?

much the same and as i said in my earlier post its actually shorter than the original blade so wipes less screen

Welcome,

But having seen WaveyDavey's (nice polish on that Black Magic!) I don't like it. It's way too short, still has the 'crank' at the pivot, not for me thanks.

Andy.

Get the wiper off altogether it looks much better.

and have just the spindle sticking out of the glass

And not see anything through the glass at the slightest hint of rain.

Just a thought but would an octy mk2 estate rear aero wiper go onto the fabia, the blade part number is 7E0 955 425.

how long is that blade please mannyo ?

thanks mannyo , the Polo aero on the Fabia is 13" long , so i would have 1.5" either end of that to make the Octy 16" , just measured the gap between the top of the sweep and the top of the screen and its about 1.75" , so if the Octy one fits on the Polo arm , look like its a goer

I dont know if it will fit on the polo arm, maybe the octavia arm will fit on the fabia.

ahh , you've opened up another can of worms there , will the arm fit the spindle , is the arm longer than the Polo one , if the arm and blade do fit will they sweep the screen or jam on the spoiler :D

i think i may just try the blade and see if it fits
