2005 Fabia vrs - both rear doors leak and the boot, dealer "apparently" fixed seals a few weeks ago under warranty - going back in again next week to have a look at problem again.

Incidently my dad had a VW Bora a few years back with a door leaking problem....

How much does this cost to be fixed by a dealer outside of warranty?

Good luck with this, I have heard that Skoda UK are most unhelpfull :thumbdwn:

Keep us informed.

Simon

I believe sorted...

Just called Skoda UK & spokey with a foxy ;) (Patricia) in Leeds. Told her I was supposed have had all the seals replaced under warranty but now I'm in my extended warranty DM Keith (Dealers) are trying to pull a fast one on me. She just took some basic details and asked at what points has my car been serviced.

Gave her exact dates and mileage at those dates and then further made a refference to this post and she said it's probably going to be in my favour !

SOD YOUR DEALERS RING SKODA UK ! :D

Ring this number 01908 601601 Its VW Group but just ask to be put through to Skoda UK saves you ringing an 0845 number ;)

Correction problem is on going. I remember going into the garage within the last twelve months to supposedly get this problem fixed but would you believe it or not they dont have a job card to say that this work has been done.

I'm feeling a bit had to say the least I'd rather be robbed atleast you could hit the

T W A T thats robbing you !

I fixed all my doors last week myself. I poured water on the window to spot the leaks and I noted that water comes in THROUGH THE RIVETS as well as at the bottom of the door.

So, my advice is to seal all the rivets as well as the usual sealant line. Don't forget to seal quite high up - otherwise water will leak out at the top! I smeared loads of the stuff on everywhere to be honest.

The quality of the door sealant seems to be far higher on the front doors compared with the rears.

Pictures would be very helpful for everyone if you can take some and point out places where you mean, Thanks !

I used the sealing guide from this forum. Do a search for it as it is very helpful.

Rivets are circular and metal.

The guide is here on VRStu's excellent Fabia website. I had all the doors on my 2007 Fabia sealed under warranty. The rear nearside door leak took 3 attempts to fix - on the third occasion the door ancillaries carrier was replaced and it hasn't leaked since.

Mine (05 VRS) have leaked very slightly but not to the exstent to soak the carpets. Just makes the car smell a bit damp :thumbdwn:

Leaks through the join in the trim on the back doors.

ive been back to the dealer 3 times with the same leak. I think finally they have sorted it. Didnt know it was a common problem though. Yeah right:rolleyes:

Couldn't be bothered with fighting dealers when I keep a tube of exterior grade silicone in the van. Done the back doors, when I fit my new Blaupunkt components in the front door I'll seal them as well.

Good tip to blob the rivets.:thumbup:

All I need now is a weekend off work when its not raining. Grrrr:mad:

I had (still have) this problem with my Sept/55 Fabia Vrs with front passenger door. Most people seem to have this problem with rear doors though. The dealer replaced all four door seals with about 4 months warranty remaining and I thought it was fixed. 5 months later, alas, afater a heavy rainfall, I noticed the front passenger footwell was wet. Contacted the dealer and was told I'd have to pay, although the warranty job apparently failed to fix the problem in the first place. Contacted the SUK and was told to get the car checked by another Skoda dealer. If the same fault was found, SUK would foot the bill. I am having mine checked on Monday, so I will keep you posted on the results.

Front pass, and both rear doors leaked water into the car, Dealer sorted them yesterday

My wife's 2001 Fabia has had problems with both rear doors. Both trims are badly stained. I took off the inside panels thinking it might be a problem with the seals to the metal shield behind the trim - but have now concluded its the design of the rubbers.

Has anyone tried cutting the rubber door seals or modifying them in any way?

Not surprised Skoda won't accept there's a problem - despite all the evidence. Par for the course.

Just got the car back from the dealer. Discovered a new piece of history about my car today. Previous owner used it as a dual controlled car and when I they took out the clutch and brake pedals, obviously they made a bit of mess of it, leaving the grommet loose, hence causing the water to come through the top-left hand corner of the passenger footwell. Anyway, it's been fixed (I hope) at no cost. The job description says it's been resealed. Phew...

My father took my vRS to Skoda in Swansea and they sorted the doors.....

They were put through the ultimate test yesterday, I drove through what seemed to be a "puddle" but turned out to be alot larger than i expected! At one point the car floated, seriously!! It wasnt aquaplaning, it WAS floating, i kept my foot firmly planted on the peddle whilst dropping a load in my pants. I eventually managed to "sail" through the "puddle", checked over the whole car and eveything seems fine. No leakage into the car, no water sucked into the engine, air filter was dry etc etc

The moral of the story is ; If you have your doors sealed, a vRS can also act as a amphibious vehicle. :D

Also had multiple issues with washer bottle, came back from repairer (after the missus banged it) with no wash wipe front or rear. Went back, they fixed it then the rear stopped, went back again they fixed but it's not been right since. Rears just went off again with the cold weather so gonna fix it myself.
