Another Question about MaxiDot

Using the link above I was looking through the MaxiDot images.

On one it has

DOORS:

Single Door

Auto Close

Auto Open

Would I be right in assuming the following:

SINGLE DOOR

Only the driver door opens when you press the key?

AUTO. CLOSE

This will lock all the doors when you start to drive away. Very handy with kids.

AUTO. OPEN

All the doors will open when you turn the engine off.

Would I be right in my guess ??

I'm back with a worry.

I'm starting to get second thoughts about the colour I have picked for my new Octavia :(

I have seen a number of Octavia's in a light gold colour and I really like it.

There are other models in Gold (lots of them in Ireland) but this colour is almost silver.

Am I right in sticking with the Anthracite Gray !!!!

I know its a stupid question to ask but its my first colour change in over 10 years.

My order went in a week ago so I might still be able to change it at this point.

I have seen 1-2 gray Octavia's around and they look really elegant.

This has been niggiling me since I ordered the car!

I think the Anthracite Gray is one of the prettiest color. Its look very nice with the black details on the car. Go for Anthracite!

Just got word back from my Skoda dealer that my car will be arriving in Cork on Monday and It should be ready for pickup the following Friday.

I won't be able to pick it up until the following Monday but at least I know its on its way. :)

I have a 2.0TD Elegance in Antracite Grey (with the same options you have gone for). Just do a search for my posts - one of them has a few pictures of the car the day I picked it up from the dealer. I was originally going for Graphite Grey but do feel that Antracite is a better colour.

Wow Glen

That looks fantastic.

I find that grill just enchanting. You could sit staring at it for hours.

The colour is very elegant. Looks like a very expensive car in that colour.

Only a week to go before I get mine. the wait is killing me now I've seen yours.

I even have my route planned for coming home in it. :)

I have ordered my Octavia in May and they said I will get it in September, but it arrived one week ago. The reason for thr initial term was that the factory hardly cope with the demand. I wonder myself what happened.

I also have chosen the Anthracite Grey because that golden colour (I can't remember its full name) is no more available in Romania. I also liked it very much and the Anthracite was the second choice. It is very distinguishing indeed.

About the maxidot: neither in Romania it isn't included in the Elegance, but it is a good deal. It costs only 98 EUR.

I think Anthracite superceded Graphite on the Skoda colour chart.

You're absolutely spot on with that comment. I'm very pleased with this colour choice (you always worry after signing off on the order). The Skoda website does it no justice whatsoever.

I was even more worried as it was the wife who FORCED me to change colour after 10 years of silver car driving.

After looking at the cars on here in that colour. I can't wait to get my hands on mine.

Not long now though, you pick up your's next Monday don't you?

Thats right.

Monday afternoon. They said the car would be ready today but I can't pick it up until Monday. When I called yesterday they then said to leave it until the after noon as they are expecting it to be delivered first thing Monday morning.

I just hope its ready, or you will hear the shouting from the other side of the planet.

As most will know, I’m supposed to be picking up my new Octavia today.

Well its all changed. Thanks to Phonix Motors JFK

Here’s the story so far.

The car was due to arrive into Cork last Monday. I was told it would be ready for pickup on Friday last. I told the dealer that I can only pick the car up on Monday as I own my own business and would have to close the business down so I could go pick it up.

Last Thursday I emailed them to make sure everything was going according to plan and the car would be ready for Monday morning pick up. They emailed me back to say to leave it till the afternoon as the car won’t be delivered to them until Monday (Today) I said fine.

This morning at 10:30 I emailed them to confirm pick up only to be told the car had not been delivered and could I leave it until Tuesday. They obviously don’t read there F**King emails very well.

I had war with them on the phone so they said they will see what they can do.

They have just called me back to say two guys are going down to get the car and I should have it by 4:30 to 5:00 today. They are going to drive the car back from Inch so I will have over a hundred miles on the F**king clock by the time it gets here. It would be the same if the y delivered it Tuesday. When I asked if they would be delivering it on a truck they said no they would be driving it over.

5:00pm pick up puts me right at the height of the traffic on the Red Cow Roundabout heading back to the north side of Dublin.

I could be over reacting but to me this is a F**k up of epic proportions! Some little P***k is going to be driving my 26,000 euro car before I do. Most likely screwing the F**k out of it all the way up.

I have been the one making first contact every time. They just don’t give a **** about you or your money is how I feel. Typical Irish business approach. You get more respect buying a f**Kings mars bar then you do when you are parting with your hard earned thousands.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :mad::mad:

They have taken the good out of getting the car. I just want to go pick it up and get it behind me. I'm so F**King pi55ed of with them. And all they can do is make out its not a big deal

Not good, not good at all. In fact, a very poor performance. Some people just don't get the art of communication and most of them appear to work in the 'service' industry. Particularly galling when, as you say, you've shelled out your own hard earned for the privilege.

Poor dealers really do let the manufacturers down in this respect. You could consider complaining to whoever is responsible for dishing out the franchises (Skoda Ireland?) to let them know what a shower your local dealer is.

I really hope this won't take the edge off the experience too much. The first car I had from new arrived on a transporter but still had 60-odd miles on the clock. How many times round the dockside is that?

Let us know how you get on.

After some moaning on my Part I have just got back from picking up my car.

First impressions

WoooooooooW :) :) :) :)

Had a good long drive back and I am very impressed.

Now for the other news,

I just entered my VIN number and found a few things out.

The wheels are standard 15" alloy even though the model is 2008.

It also has no turning lights as was stated the 2008 models have.

No First aid kit or Triangle

Thats amoung other things it hasn't got!!

The wheels on my Scenic where 16" so we have to wait and see how I feel about them.

Other then that I am very happy with the car. There's nothing I can do about the Irish getting the ****ty models.

Really happy with the DSG 1.6

PS

Forgot to mention: it had 115k on the clock when I got it.

Only thing is. It has MPi (i in red) on the back. And I have no clue what that means :)

It looks fantastic.

Just been looking at Skoda Ireland's website - they don't half make it hard to find anything out about trim specs. I'm guessing the 15" alloys are part of the Irish issue you refer to. My UK spec Elegance doesn't have a first aid kit or warning triangle either.

'Scuse my ignorance but have you gone metric on your road signs and cars (you refer to 115k on the clock rather than miles)?

I believe that MPI is Multi-Point Injection and relates to the manner in which fuel is squirted into the combustion chamber. There's some detail on this page

Its not that its hard to find. Thats your lot :)

Your looking for something thats not there. Steering wheel and engine are optional extras here

Yep.... We are totally metric. There is no MPH on the dash what so ever. All signs are in Metric as well.

On the down side

Its up to you to figure it out when you go to the UK as they are not metric.

On the up side.

I just got my wife a lovely Micra (March) 1.0 auto. Its a Jap import. Fantastic little car. The display on them are all in Metric as well. You won't get an Irish car that old with the prime display in metric.

When you've got some pictures, be sure to post.

My digi cam is out of power but I will put photos up as soon as I can.

Just looking through the hand book and I have a sneeky feeling its not a DSG

There are two sections in the book.

Automatic 6 speed gearbox and Automatic 6 speed gearbox DSG

I think I have the non DSG model as their is no DSG logo on the Gearshift.

I'm not disappointed with the car, its just that I thought I was getting a DSG

As for the color...... I had lots of customers in my shop today and every one of them mentioned the color :) :) :)

Trying really hard not to look smug :) :)

Your car is a 1.6 MPI (petrol). Petrol-engined Skodas have the Tiptronic 6-speed auto as an option whereas their diesel-engined siblings have the DSG 6-speed auto as an option.

Your dealer should really have pointed this out but as we've already discovered, they don't appear to be up to much ;)
