well i just wanna be careful and not do thousands of pounds of damage really. any way to avoid doing that or any stuff to look out for would be great!

The diverter valve is prone to failure, worth replacing. A cheap Change or go for an uprated diverter Valve as i have done with a forge 007.

Have a go with the search button, saves you lots of money.
