Down as Elegance not vRS

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I changed my insurance over to my new vRS by giving them the reg number... just got the documents from Tesco insurance and it's stated as:

1.8t Elegance 5d

I'm going to ring them up to see if I can change it to vRS so they can't squirm out if I need to make a claim.

Will this raise my insurance?!

I'm sure I read something about octavias being registered wrong?

it probably raise your insurance slightly, but doubt by much.

Mine was down as elegance too. Just make sure they don't charge you for a change to your insurance details.

They're going to look back on the phonecall and ring me back on Monday, typical.

They said the vRS was made until 2003, but mine is a 51 plate and def a vRS?

Wassup with that!

Well mine's an 04 reg, so that can't be right!

Sorry I meant, wasn't made until 2003, typo!

Does your V5 show the right info ?

I seem to remember reading this before - sure it was an ex police car.

With most insurance companies mine says vrs, others such as Direct line list it as Elegance (mine is a vrs)

Check your V5C and see what it says, the insurance database does a best match against the model. I reckon none of yours say vRS, as I went through this. Once I had the V5 changed to vRS I had no more problems.

V5 just says "RS"

All of the badges are vRS on the car.

Interesting, if the V5 is correct then the insurance should come through correctly.

I had a problem when i tried to insure my car for the 1st time,i said to them it was a 'vrs' but they didn't have such a model on there system. Some insurance company have 'rs' the same as whats on my v5.

Mine was listed as a Superb when I was trying to insure mine even though the V5C was correct. After a quick phone call all was sorted. :)

My L&KPD130 is correct with DVLA but always comes up 110 on insurance databases and has to be corrected to get the right quote - inaccuracies are a common problem it seems.

Just searched and I think I have the answer here in this old thread.

My Octy came up as Elegance when I did an online quote, and I am sure the V5 says RS. Mine is a '05.

Just wondering if all vRS are 'RS'on the V5 or is there a mixture?

My V5 say's "OCTAVIA RS", and so does the original build sheet from Skoda. Car was first registered in April '02.

The term "vRS" is just used for marketing in the UK as far as I'm aware (for legal reasons). The proper name as used by everyone else in the world is RS.

I've never had problems with insurance or tax on the car since I've had it (3.5yrs).

I'm sure I've heard about this problem before with some of the early cars, and as others have said I think it was an error in the DVLA database. You can tell if it's an RS from the VIN anyway.

My 53 plate said RS on the logbook yet churchill said it was a elegance! :wonder:

Three and a half years old this one.

Thats the second revival today :S

Holy thread revival batman

Just keeping the questions alive :D

On another note, why can't Skoda call their cars RS..... :giggle:

It's only Skoda UK, and has something to do with Ford RS UK kicking off and not letting them use the name for marketing in this country.

Skoda brand the car as RS on their global website, and all websites apart from the UK one.

See here: http://new.skoda-auto.com/COM/model/newoctavia/comfort/rs/Pages/rs.aspx

What's the chance...

I was reading this thread this morning, then this evening the V5C and tax for the Girlfriends recently acquired Octavia has come in and the V5C has got it down as a automatic making the tax £70 more expensive!

How easy is it to convince the DVLA they're wrong, particularly when it's an 8 year old car?

Tom
