Installation of Parrot CK3100 with OEM Microphone

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm going to install a CK3100 in my Octavia RS and I was thinking if it would be possible to use the original microphone from Skoda (the one that is hidden into the roof light). This way, the Mic is not visible. It would be only neccessary to buy the original mic, and solder it to the wiring coming from CK3100.

What do you think?

My doubt is that i don't know if the specifications of both mics would be simmilar, so people will hear you correctly.

Buy the Parrot Kit with it's mic, buy the Skoda mic from a dealer - wire up the Parrot kit to test before mounting it behind the dash, and then swap over to the Skoda mic. If it works, keep it, and wire it all in, if the Skoda mic doesn't work, sell the part to someone considering fitting the Skoda Bluetooth kit to their car... :)

Mics appear to be mics though - my SatNav (which is also a phone handsfree kit) works fine with a mic that came with a no-brand handsfree kit I bought 10 years ago. (Obvious disclaimer though - don't blame me if the Skoda mic blows up your brand new Parrot car kit).

The parrot mike fitted in the light slot of the MK I wasn't ideal and sounded pretty muted, although this should be better in the MK II from where the hole looks to be.

I tried a Nokia mic in the roof light location on my 1st Fabia, but it picked up way too much noise - both wind and seemingly general interference.

Since then with VAG, I've always just used a std. Nokia mic, stuck next to the light, and quality has been fine.

My first post here :) !

I've fitted a Parrot 3100 on my Octi 2 about a month ago !Works perfect !

I've used an ideea from a french website ( don't need translation , it's loaded with pics ) , the solution chosen by "TDI130" with the mic hidden further behind the spec box , in one of the 3 grills that are there .The main unit it's placed in the ashtrey - with the lid shut there's nothing to see ( burglar safe :) ).

The link :

Simplement Skoda

Enter " Technique " , then " Autoradio, GPS, Kit bluetooth et PDA " , then scroll down to " Installation d'un Kit Parrot ... " by TDI130 .

Forgot to mention - I used the OEM Parrot mic , asa I said earlier on , works perfect !

Two nice ideas there (the mic position, and the location of the main display). How easy is it to read the display?

It's good , as long as the sun doesn't shine straight into the display , and / or you're not into third gear !

Nevertheless a good investment :

you don't have to bother charging the Bluetooth headset or bringing it with u

don't care if the phone is in your jacket or...

takes over calls started before you've started the car

it has adjustable settings for mic , menu , speakers volume...

and so on...

It carries 2 great advantages : nothing to be seen ( for the longfingers ) and if you ever decide to sell the ride , you can remove the hole sistem without leaving any nasty holes in the dash or anywhere else( frencman's ideea ).
