Fabia vRS change up

Featured Replies

Gearchanges are the killer for 0-60 sprints, hence why diesels are cr4p at it. They need to be changed so often.

The thing with these torquey Diesels is you dont need to change gear. So forget 0 to 60 sprints and think overtaking speed of say 40 to 80, this is where they excell.:)

Agree. 130BHP @ 4000RPM, so no need to go above that:thumbup:

Erm... It depends on the shape of the cruves either side of peak power. If it falls away dramatically after 4K and if it rises sharply, to 4K. Actually, I kind of agree with you, in the case of the TDI.

With the TDI, it rises gradually, more of a plateau, rather than a peak, then falls away after about 4.5K.

The more power you can put down, for the longest period of time, the better, for the greatest, most constant acceleration.

For peaky petrol engines, maybe VTECs, give it balls and rev past peak BHP, so that when you change gear, you always catch the right part of the slope on the power curve. No-one want to change gear into a flat spot.

I know, I'm just pointing out the fact of why they do suck at 0-60. :D
