Skoda are 2nd!

Featured Replies

Hi Peeps

Just got this weeks Auto Express and they have published their Driver Power 2004 Survey, Out of 100 cars.

Are you ready:

Skoda Octavia: 7th

Skoda Fabia: 12th

So with those rankings it makes Skoda 2nd out of all car manufacturers, with only Lexus beating us, Porsche were 3rd. Thats not bad when you try and look for our mothership (VW) you will find her back in 21st place.

Oh and for the Muppet on the Cliosport thread, Renault Clio's were ranked in 76th place (Ooh I wish I had one of those) Remember the faster the Renault the faster it breaks!!

Have a nice day as I am not, I got that stomach bug and it's a pain in the ar5e, literally! :Yikes: Oops got to go :toilet:

Hmm just been checking out the tread on cliosport.net (i'm a member). Its a good Job ChavyBoy has close the thread i was about to join in and give him a helping hand.

Some people really **** me off when they think because they own something, everything else is ****E.

"182 SPORT" Good one Chavyboy. I bet his name before that was "1.2 16v Renault Sport"

Heheheh the 182 guy was a complete muppet. Thing is he dug himself a hole with a helped him climb into.

BTW I didn't close the thread I can but I didn't. :D

Actually IAN 172 sent me a PM saying no hard feelings which was fair game but I did say if someone said that about skodas then I will kick back at them.

Very similar result to the JD Power survey too, where I think the Fabia was 11th and the Octavia 5th. And  at the clio's position. :D I don't think you hardly ever hear about roadside breakdowns on this forum (unless self-inflicted like my little "breakdown"). Wonder how many threads putting the word "breakdown" in cliosport will pull up?

Search for Breakdown on cliosport.net = 2

Search for broken on cliosport.net = 36 :D

To be fair. I've had 2 Clio dyanmique 1.2 16v both from new. None of which brokedown. Had small faults but never brokedown.

I don't think any of us here at Briskoda have any real problems with any other cars, including Clio's, reason being we all are all intelligent peeps, after all we saw through the Skoda past history, we bought bloody decent cars whilst others laughed at us. It's not the cars I have problems with it's the narrow minded idiots that drive them I have no time for.

Exactly.

I have no problem with any other car on the road, just the numb nuts that sit behind the wheel! ;)

So, back on topic... ;)

1. Lexus

2. Skoda

3. Porsche

Yes, I'd have a hard time too picking the odd one out. :D

Odd one? Odd two!

In the Top Gear Survey 2003. Octavia came 2nd. Fabia came 11th.

Best made Golf is a SKODA :D

Odd one? Odd two!

I gather you mean the expensive RWD ones instead of the well-built ones?

Thought Lexii were FWD?

Rob.

The the majority are RWD, I know the IS200 and GS430 are.... :D

Chris

Sorry, slightly off topic, but have just read the Cliosport link.... that's fantastic.

Must say Cliosport drivers do get wound up easily, I recall zapping past one and subsequently being pursued at silly speeds on an unclassified road (and by silly I mean faster than most motorway drivers would do).

I'm so happy that we at Briskoda on the whole have an amenable down-to-earth attitude about our cars and other road users - its just a bit of fun

Thought Lexii were FWD?

Cars that were specifically developed to be BMW and Merc beaters?

Not that the average Lexus customer will feel the difference... ;)

Just relised my profile still says I drive a 172 ...Best change that pretty quicky :D

John

As Clios hve been mentioned in this thread, I though I'd chip in with my 2 penn'oth.

When I had my first coinpack go on my VRS, I was given a newish Clio as a 'courtesy' car. I don't know what model it was - I guess pretty standard. It was probably the worst car I've driven (and I've driven some oddballs - Lada, Dafs, Reliant + others). My main complaint was that everything felt so flimsy, the handbrake especially - I was frightened to use it in case it pulled off the floorpan like a beer can ringpull! I suspect the car was so flimsy to help with the power/weight ratio, but in spite of this it was pretty gutless. The _only_ good thing about it was the view through the rear window - oh, and that I didn't own it!

They all are apart from the RX300, which is 4WD. IS200 is a pile of poo. IS300 is much better. Or even an IS200 with a supercharger!

Sorry that thread was hilarious, why does some one (who can't spell) have to be so defensive over a car. If it really is that good a car, then no one would really care that he over took a skoda 'something'. If he had taken a .... Lotus Elise or something then yeah mention it, but a Skoda.

Anyway, back to the poll, the Skoda brand has gotten better and better. What I didn't see was the superb, shame really, think that would of done quite well.

Well what did make me laugh was the Pug 106, 100th, French again. What they didn't add was the difficulty in driving one, unless you have size 3 feet, you can press all the pedals at one!!!

Matt

just to go off topic a sec

I was going to get a Golf GTI, but a back-to-front baseball cap wouldn't suit me!
I love that sig
