*** Quick help needed with new tyres ***

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm getting some new tyres for the Astra and i'm thinking about the following:

GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 GS-D3 225/45 R17 91Y BSW, VSB.

What does the BSW and VSB stand for?

The car is currently fitted with Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 A 225/45 R17 91V and would it make any difference if I fitted the above tyres???

Thanks, Chris.

Hi m8

Vsb is a tyre federation "vehicle standerd bulletin"

Bsw means "black sidewall"

HTH ;) By the way F1`s will be fine especially the Gsd3

I currently have those bridgestones on the sporting... I also have good experiance of the F1's...

The bridgestones have a very stiff sidewall, and turn in very well (also XL) they are great in the dry, and damp, but not so good at cutting the deep water...

The F1's are a great all rounder (our local police fit them to the subaru) grat in the dry, and better than the bridgestones in the Very wet... but some people find the sidewalls a bit soft, so they roll a bit in comparison, may give good ultimate grip, but feel a little "soggy"..... if you can get them XL (extra load) do so , because then they have stiffer sidewalls.... but most people rate them well.... as good as most other favorite choices... I'd have them again.
