Skoda UK known issues

Featured Replies

While trying to sort out some of the 'known issues' with my vRS it got me thinking if anybody has a definative list of the issues Skoda UK have classed know problems with the Fabia?

From my conversations I found out that SUK have issued 'fixes' for at least the following:

- 06+ Stutter (well attempted fix)

- Squeaky Clutch

- Blocked fuel injector

Anymore to add?

Leaking doors/carriers

Brake light switches

Steering angle sensors

Head Gaskets (1.4 8v only earliy ones)

Sarah

Don't know if this is applicable but don't all Vrs' come with the obligatory grinding rear brakes?.

Sarah

Yikes that sounds worrying what signs should you look out for?

I think a loss of coolant for a start, then emulsified oil (looks like salad cream)

err not shure what else but must be some other signs.

fraying seats

Talking of loss of coolant don't this is related but

When the car has been stood for a long period of time eg overnight I get a damp patch appear on the rd from the passenger side but right at the front of the bonet.

Looking in the bonet I can see the water pump pipe goes over in that direction but the patch seems to drip drown off a plastic ridge (the undercarrage) but right at the front further forward than the water pipe.

Any idea what it could be?

I think the furtherst forward part is the radiator is this correct.

I was thinking maybe it could be condensation as the coolent doesn't seem to be dropping by a noticable amount.

Have SUK accepted this as an issue? I know its a problem but didn't think they have accepted it as an official defect?

Hi

This was the early early ones

If there is a problem with coolant loss , another problem is rad fan switch

There is a seal needing replacing on it

Sarah

Yup Sarah is right, that will be the rad fan switch leaking.

1.4 16v piston ring failures.

Fabia mooing rear brakes.

Radiator fan switch

In the radiator there is a switch which operates the fans.

Pretty basic really..lol

Sarah

When the Lummox empire is set up and I need a secretary you will be the first one I call.

"Sarah......your hired"

;)

I think I will check my rad switch, for a weeping.

is it easy to locate on the rad ?

I have noticed a small damp patch (ooerr)

is it easy to fix with a bit of PTFE on the thread?

Its a small sender switch that fits into the radiator with a small rubber seal , its this seal which leaks , a replacement unit cures it , not expensive at all really , tho I had mine done on the used car warranty.

Cheers people getting my list ready for the garage tomorrow to get it all done under warranty.

The more stuff I can get replaced the better!!!

Control arm bushes... your suspension will only last 60k, and if you do more than that in the two years (unlimited mileage warrenty BLOODY JOKE) it WONT be fixed under warrenty, SUK will say "your suspension will only last 60k, it will NOT be replaced under warrenty when it fails"

Is that a squeaky clutch pedal or the clutch its self?

1.4 16v piston ring failures.

Fabia mooing rear brakes.

Whats the signs to look out for with the piston rings?

Loss of power/excessive oil consumption. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if yours were on their way out with the way you drive the poor thing!

HTH :D
