18's and Coilover suspension

Featured Replies

Hi, im looking at buying some 18" Rims for my VRS and was wondering if anyone had pics of any set of 18's fitted to their Fabia with a healthy suspension drop??? I've searched the web and forums and it seems most have 17's with Eibach springs (30-40mm) I already have Eibachs and although I think they are great the ride height is way way too high for my liking.

So if anyone has any pics would you mind posting them up please...

Thankyou.

Neil

I've just fitted 18's this weekend with a 25mm drop. If you click on my slide link, you can see what it looks like (last 2 pics) - the rest were on 17's.

Had any issues fitting the 18s, any rubbing etc?? have 17s and eibach lowering 25mm, but does not look low enough!

Cheers

18's wont run providing the correct offset is used and the right diameter tyres.

But if your car doesnt look low enough fitting big wheels aint gonna help.

Was the car dropped on eibachs when the 17s were on?

surely 18s will **** up the handling to no end and affect acceleration.

Whats this I've read about damaging the sump if lower than 30mm?

Depends on what 18's you fit as weights vary.

Never hit my sump on mine and that was lowered 35mm.

yeah, didn't look too bad but I fancied a change. I haven't timed any accelerations etc but I can say the tyres no longer spin when changing into 2nd (guesing this is due to the 215 width).

Also, the 18's are very tight with no rubbing. I'm looking to do the pikey wheel arch mod but it looks like I need the arches rolled first because there isn't enough space for a vent to be fitted and enough space for the air flow.

If you're going with coilovers anyway, I'd fit that, get the height to your spec, then look at wheel choices. I know your vRS has the Octy 'spider' alloys fitted - but are they 16s or 17s now?

Not my car but its 18's with a healthy drop from Coilovers.....WishawDetailingDay018.jpg

Yeah, that's beedie's motor...

18" 50mm drop on my brothers car

All reports say 18s destroy ride cumfort and handling? do look good though!

Think the Fab looks 'overwheeled' on 18s, personally. The black ones on Beedie's car look fairly good, probably because the black finish doesn't stand out as much. But that last pic...

I'd never fit them because there isn't a tyre/width combination I'd be happy with - a 215/35/18 looks too thin and tall to me, and handling and ride suffer accordingly.

Just my 2p's worth :)

Plus they make the brakes look teeny weeny!!!

Chris

Yeah, that too! Even if you have 312s. So it would be only right and proper to fit some Brembos in there :D

Steve

Going to lower mine on coilovers and see how it looks. Just always tell myself there has to be a happy medium between looks and handling. Personaly think 17s do the trick.

yeh was indeed my car.

that was when it was dropped 70mm and doing abit of arch [not real word]deplasticing[/not real word]

there is currently a hole through each of my arch liners :)

car has now been rained 30mm and still looks **** hot (if i do say so myself)

this was also the lowest it could be set and still get the tracking spot on.

handles like its on rails now

Any more pics please anyone?

Cheers,

Pics of 40mm drop?

Ive had 18" ones on, and the handling went right out the window due to the 215/35.18 stretched tyres. The tyres are also in excess of
