Guess the car.

Featured Replies

Worthing area tonight heard this amazing sound.

Enormous low gold coupe (I think it had a kick back spoiler moulded in the bodywork if you know what I mean). It looked brand new.

It was leaving jaws on the floor as it went down the road - I only got a brief rear 3/4 view.

Any ideas what it was? (and links to piccies).

350z.

350z.

Just possible - but I think I would have recognised that, I don't think it's big enough, don't think the rear 'lip' is big enough; the noise though - it was like nothing else?

The closest thing I can find so far is some of the BMW Z series concept pictures?

No that picture convinces me it wasn't.

It was more like a DB9 from the rear - but again not quite - seen them before - this seemed bigger/flatter/lower/slightly squarer? Could have been the garish colour playing tricks on the eye? Oh well probably never know - such a fleeting look.

Aston AMV8? They sound like God Farting.

No idea on brand at all? Does make this kinda tricky

What sort of overall size are we talking? RX-8/Z4/6-Series/XK8 ??

Could it have been a Skyline?

Aston Martin Vantage

or Vanquish

What did the rear lights or other design cues look like?

The more I read the first post, the more I'm thinking V8 Vantage too. It's the bit about the rear spoiler I think:

And the noise matches too, if the driver's playing, and keeping the revs above 4500, and therefore the butterfly exhaust valve open

If I imagine that in a lurid gold colour - with the lights and the 'kick' - I think you've got it!

Who needs a badge as a clue when you've got car nuts like you lot about.

He was only 'tickling' it along and the sound - I could play it on my stereo all night long!

 we aim to please!

Was it this kinda colour?

Also, depends what you mean by massive? The V8 is around about 14' long, so similar in length to a 3-Series. The DB9 and Vanquish are longer by about a foot, more like a 5-Series.

DB9:

Vanquish:

I was overtaken by an AMV8, then by an RS4 going like the clappers along the m62.. must have been doing 150 easily...

the sound was indeed like god farting, it was so nice i almost fouled myself!!

Check Maserati, could have been one of theirs.

Or a new Mustang, or a Monaro, or a new Corvette.........

I'm not so sure on the AM now I've slept on it. LOL.

Trouble is once you start looking at hundreds of pictures of cars it starts 'corrupting' your memory.

I'm now thinking the styling overall was squarer than the AM and perhaps the rear light was square too - nothing like the AM!? My instantaneous reaction was it was American so possibly Mustang would fit.

I'd be no good at an id. parade that's for sure!

Don't bother with any more guesses chaps - I've lost the image now - I'll keep an eye out. Hopefully it's local and I'll get a better look and a chance to take in some of the styling signatures or a badge - it was dusk too by the way, I'm not half blind - honest. :D
