I hate DVLA

Featured Replies

As some of you may remember i wrote off my Renault Clio in January which had my private plate on it.

I have been trying since beggining of Febuary to get the Plates back onto certificate and off the Clio. I have had the paperwork sent back to me countless times even thought all times but the first were correct, and this was clarified by the main office in Swansea and they appologised saying they couldnt understand why it kept getting sent back. Anyway im still paying tax on the clio as they havent crushed it or whatever untill the plates are unassigned to the car.

Anyway in recent events i spoke to many people and finally managed to get DVLA to accept the perfectly ok paperwork. Upon this the DVLA said they would send someone to do an inspection report on the car, to make sure that it is the car that the plate was assigned to.

As you can probably guess they turned around and said your not having the plate back. Which seriously annoyed me.

Their reason was - the car had no visible VIN number on it. I agree with them there, i tried to find it before, but stuck with using the VIN off the MOT certificate's as i couldnt find it on the car.

With any luck i should be going to see the garage i bought it from (my mate) to ask where he found the VIN number.

Obviously i hate the DVLA with a passion, and i really just want to get it sorted because i cant stand their crappy service. They have been messing me about for almost 6 months now and its really starting to anger me.

If anyone has any advice then it would be greatly appreciated as im sure you can imagine, i dont really wanna lose the private plate, not only becuase its mine personally, its valuse and most importantly it was a present from the parents.
