Fabia VRS judder

Featured Replies

hey im wondering if any can shed some light on my VRS. when i start my car up on cold mornings and pull away the car judders, however once the car wamrs up, the judders disappear when pulling away. The colder the mornings the more it seems to judder, as today was a relatively warm morning, it hardly juddered. its a 55 reg and i dont think its the stutter that affects the newer VRS's.

any help please......

is it clutch judder ? i.e. you pulling away and slipping the clutch slightly to get moving , and its juddering then

Sounds like clutch judder to me. My Passat is terrible, but living with it for the time being, as I'm skint

hello all,my 55 plate seems to have the same problem only 13.5k on clock and just to question ric04vrs isnt it impossible not to slip the clutch when pulling away?

but does temperature affect how violently clutch judders occurs, cos the colder the temp the worse it is

does it on mine too but has only just started doing this. not an issue really as 2 junctions (starts) down the line the clutch seems to be warm and no judder

Either the clutch or dual mass flywheel.

cheers lummox, should the car go in under warranty then because as previously stated after a couple of mins/starts it goes away.

could the clutch by glazed if it does this?

i agree , its impossible to pull away smoothly without slipping the clutch , what i was trying to ascertain was when the OP got the judder , then i could make a diagnosis of the problem

various things can cause clutch judder , contamination or damage of the friction material , heat damage to the flywheel surface , DMF fault , engine mounting faults etc

without really driving the car it will be extremely difficult to diagnose correctly anyway , but if we know some more of the symptoms and when they happen we can give a better diagnosis

slightly off topic but i think it makes a point , there is a job in the garage at the moment , the job card says , "investigate engine fault" see what i mean about a little more info required

see what you mean ric, thanks for trying to help:) the car litterally judders for the first couple of starts in the morning worse when cold.there is no squeal or clutch slip kind of noise.wish i could explain it a little better but thats it? i was'nt even goin to bother about it until next service in november.

wasn't having a go at you or anything

if the problem with the judder is pretty bad , i wouldn't leave it till November to get it checked out , you may cause other damage by continuing to drive it , although as you say its OK after being warmed up , i'd let the dealer check it out , an over night cold start test may help with the diagnosis

cheers for that ric, like you say maybe a quick trip to dealer i could be doing more damage:O it is a little weird though, ive driven car this morning and no probs?

This happens to mine when I have a full tank of diesel and I don't have enought revs on. I think its the weight of the car acting against itself. The poor road surface at the end of our road doesn't help either. Makes it feel like its juddering but it is poor traction.
