astra vxr wasted

Featured Replies

on saturday coming out of barnoldswick i was approaching the kelbrook road roundabout when suddenly an astra vxr came from nowhere and attemted an overtake just as approaching traffic exited the roundabout he braked hard and pulled in behind me where he sat not 2 inches from my rear bumper all the way to the m65[about 8 miles],as we entered the roundabout to go onto the m65 i heard him drop a cog and peel into the second lane,i prodded the accellerator to slow his progress and as he drew along side i looked over to see a young lad and even younger girl both abusing me,well red rag to a bull i dropped a cog and left them as a distant memory, the question has to be why do i get them.

then it wasn't a VXR as it would have beaten you easily.

Sorry fella, but a VXR is DOUBLE the power of the vRS...

should really elaborate on this :o

he has around around twice the power(if yours is standard) and weighs about 100Kg less so no comparison really.

admitidly in the past i have simply played with other cars driving upto them fast then hanging back wathcing drive off like their hair is on fire trying their best to look hard when in fact i am sat back laughing as i could have easily beaten them, not big or clever but worth a giggle sometimes :P

I hope you have a flame suit in the wardrobe or are you just pulling our legs??

next it will be said it was all a dream...

i got wasted by a VXR astra the other day... and i only have 150bhp per ton.. which is a little more than the 100 per ton a std fabia vRS has...

light car(by modern standards), decent power and 6 gears means a quick car in a straight line :)

yep certainly do its an r32 gtst with an rb25 lump in it,i was taking it to a barn to be stred untill i get time to sort the bodywork out, currently at between 350~400 bhp but the nice little rb26 lump with a stroker kit on should see 600 by this time next year,if i get the time to sort it.It was for sale but now swmbo has given permision to keep it sort of i plan to get some money spent on it,its a little tatty at the mo and if someone explains how to get the big pics on here i will hapily post pictures of my expanding fleet, fabia vrs se,fto,skyline,205 and the new addition the wifes new swift, only ordered it saturday and got it tonight, unlike my latest fabia i think it took more months to arrive than the swift did days:rofl:one last word on the vxr tho

I TOOK HIM LIKE A KING, god i love that phrase:thumbup:

hehe :rofl::rofl:

nice one

hmm.. M65, my neck ot woods then, youll have to give me a ride when the skyline is sorted ;):D

no probs, just costing the job out at the mo,it looks viable provided i do the work, unfortunatly time is at a premium these days so i may have to be content with doing the body work and sorting new wheels and the like, but even so as one or two on here that know me will confirm its a bit of an animal allready:D

Nice to hear this was against a Skyline, but the weight info on the VXR I've just looked up lists 1318kg, with the same site listing the Fabia vRS at 1315kg. Find Car Dealers and Motoring Websites | UK Motoring Research

Obviously not arguing that a Fabia, remapped or otherwise, would have stood much of a chance. And it's kinda redundant in this thread now, but just thought I'd mention it, as I would have been surprised if the Astra had come out at 1215....

vxr weight depends where you look though. Parkers have it at 1230kg whereas WhatCar have it at 1393kg

Yeah, and 1393 kg on Carfolio!

Suppose it must come down to how they've been tested - number of passenger, amount of fuel etc.

Steve

Youll usually find car statistic sites like parkers will just state the weight of the base model as a general blanket for the whole range

but Parkers list the 1.4 SXi Sport hatch at 1190kg and the 1.6 version at 1215kg   why can't things be simple :thumbdwn:

i posted from parkers :)

I remember seeing a Yellow vRS on a weigh bridge. Which had nothing in it, and a few litres of fuel. 1320kg.

even so as one or two on here that know me will confirm its a bit of an animal allready:D

Yeah, it's quick, get rid of that bloody chavvy exhaust though!

the wieights you are all finding are the lowest and maximum for the car depending on optional extras fitted. some sites also list it with a full fuel tank and a 75kg driver.
