Bleeding No Smoking Sticker!

Featured Replies

As my company has decreed that all lease cars are workplaces and could be occupied by more than one employee at a time, the smoke free regulations apply  . Therefore, my 170bhp "workplace" must display a no-smoking sticker :thumbdwn: .

I've "fixed" mine into the center console cup holder , just behind the gearl ever so it is visible from both inside and outside the car, as per the regulations  .

Where has everyone else stuck theirs? (The bin is not a valid answer ;))

Steve

PS Before anyone tries to argue that sole occupier vehicles don't need to display a sticker, our company policy is playing it very safe in so far as it is impossible to state that another employee will never drive my car:( .

Thats a joke. How about a windscreen sticker?

Where has everyone else stuck theirs?

As it's a TDI why not just above the exhaust pipe on the rear bumper

Doesn't the requirement say that it has to be some stupid size too, like 120mm or something?

And advertise to the world that it's a co. car!

I don't want any sticker so have positioned it in an inconspicuous a place as possible!

I think it has to be 70mm diameter.

My lease company have got some new tax disk holders which have the 'No smoking' sign and wording on the back of them.

It's only visible to those sitting inside the car, and suits me nicely.

Someone suggested that to me but I have a nice metallic red Richbrook disc holder :D

Steve

We have them too.

Mine is on the back of the taxx disk holder, although we were told to put them in the middle of the dash somewhere so all the occupants could see it.

Yeh right :(

tbh it's not a bad compromise to having a company car.

Could be worse and have to have the company name plastered all over the outside of the car.

When I saw the subject of this, I thought maybe someone had stabbed your 'no-smoking sign'

It's not just your company Steve, it's the law. Where I work, those with company cars are moaning about the same thing.

Buy a Car with a Sunroof or a Soft top, No smoking does not apply if there is no roof......I think??

Stuck mine on my windscreen, just adds to the collection of three company parking stickers (one for my work and two for customers) and the M6 Toll Tag and and and....

what you should do is put a sticker " THANK YOU FOR POT SMOKING" up and see how long it takes for them to catch it........

Size is: 70mm (conveniently the same size as your Tax disc) is required.

Sun-roofs don't apply, still an enclosed space. Rules don't apply to soft top/convertibles when the roof is down only - so you will still need a sticker.

Mine is on the back of my parking permit next to the Tax Disc, and that is where I'm putting them on all our Company vehicles (I run our fleet for my sins). Although I only use my Company Car for commuting these days and "Vehicles that are used primarily for private purposes will not be required to be smokefree".

"Smokefree vehicles will need to display a no-smoking sign in each compartment of the vehicle in which people can be carried. This must show the international no-smoking symbol at least 70mm in diameter." - quotes from HMG leaflet.

Ours is BIG in the pull car.

Company Push Bike!!...........:)

Hi,

I work for a big telecommunications company, and have a van.

At the last team brief we were given two no smoking stickers about 4 inches square, with instructions to stick one to the inside of the window immediatly above the passenger side door lock, and get this, the other was to go on the inside middle plastic cross piece of the rear doors.

Everybody asked the boss man in unison, whether the company expected anyone to get inside the back of the van which has no windows, and then light up.

But the answer was as good as JFDI.

My last car had a 2cm square windscreen sticker stuck up in the top corner on the passenger side by the sun visor.

To be direct: the UK agency that thought about this one has gone mad! I have never heard of something so daft. They won't try anything like that on the continent as we will all laugh so hard and ignore the rule! Bit of the nanny state.

Yup - its called 'Her Majesty's Government' !! :rofl::rofl:

Complete and utter Nanny State. :(

Have a look at The Smoke-free (Exemptions and Vehicles) Regulations 2007

This details all the exemptions to the regulations - doesn't look like there are any get out clauses to this

I was under the impression that it didn't apply to company cars if the driver has exclusive use of the car. My company have said it applies to all company cars - lucky that I have an allowance instead - but I can't see that my car is any different in practice as it's still used as a work place.

I'd object strongly to having one of those signs in my car - especially as I don't smoke.

My employer's applied the practice to private cars when used on company business. So someone with a car allowance could commute to the office and smoke in their car, but then drive out onto site and not be allowed to smoke...

Stickers have only been issued for company cars tho.

Rob.

I know where I'd apply the sticker - the underside of the passenger seat.

It's on display if you know where to look
