Running cold - fans not cutting out

Featured Replies

I have a 2003 1.6i Octavia Estate which I bought last year from Simpsons in Colne. Recently it had its first service since I have had it and a small water leak was discovered - a new radiator was fitted under warranty.

Since then, I have noticed that the temp gauge, (which previously was always rock steady in a vertical position at operating temperature) never goes past vertical but often fluctuates below that....sometimes hardly registering at all! Does this matter and is it likely to be the thermostat?

Also and maybe unrelated I noticed today that after stopping and removing the ignition key, the fan went on and on....I eventually stopped it by driving a short distance and when I stopped again (with the key removed) the fan cut out. I have never noticed the fan running on before like this - has anyone else...and should I be concerned?

It's probably engine temperature sender it's a common problem loads of them go.

do you have a warranty if you do boo it in, if not do an adavnced search and you will probably find instructions on how to change it yourself.
