Scooby Only Just

Featured Replies

Just thought id like to mention my 200 bhp octy sII was only just beaten by my mates scoob wrx which has been chipped and had a staight through exhaust fitted he wasnt chuffed is this down to the torque of my shiny new engine.

He either can't drive, wasn't trying, or you are fibbing.

serious he was deffo trying why do you think i should have been beaten easily then are they that invinceable

There must have been something wrong or you caught him in the wrong gear.

A std Scooby would make mincemeat of a Vrs, never mind a sorted one.

What he said

I think that the blanket ruling of "Fabia vRS vs ****" needs applying to the Octy 2's now.

Incidentally, as twonks said . . . a mate has a "tweaked" WRX and it is . . . quick. :D

what bhp does a standard wrx have...curious?

265????

The current 2.5 WRX runs 227 and the WRX STi 277.

I'm saying nothing ;)

Steve

so a tweaked one could easily be in excess of the 300 mark!

well to be fair i took a 630 bmw 'like a king' yesterday!

oh siht,it doesnt count if he was parking as i drove by:rofl:

Oh yeah, quite easily. PPP (Prodrive Performance Pack) would be the way I'd go, if I had one. Or pay a visit to Lichfield ;) Honestly, wish I could afford one - then afford insurance and fuel

Always been a Scooby man, rather than Evo, although not quite sure what they've done to the new shape that's due  - Evo X on the other hand, looks epic

And yes, still  :P ;)

And with PPP*, these rise to 261 and 300 respectively.

Steve

*other remaps are available :D

i agree evo X looks:mad:

The more I look into this, the funnier it is. Looking at figures for the slightly older 2.0 turbo configuration, and a remapped WRX with, say the PPP addition, brings the 60 time down to 4.8 sec!!

Standard is around 5.5.

I thought the standard wrx and octy2 should be pretty evenly matched, with the wrx only just winning the toss. The powertrain losses through the wrx permanent 4x4 setup are quiet large. Yes it has more power, and I would expect it to win but not by much. Having been a passenger in a standard wrx on the nurburgring, there really isnt that much in it.

Note, I am talking standard WRX here, not STI or PPP or any other remapped version.

That was just like my face yesterday (mine was a bit more  ) in the passenger seat of a WRX STI (290 bhp allegedly) with a colleague test driving it quite hard but not balls out. I thought my 200 'ish vRS was quick (it is) but all things are relative! The STI is IMO on a different planet - monster fast, mental, thuggish and uncompromised - would trounce a standard vRS without breaking sweat. I wouldn't have one but my colleague would - he went for the GB270 - limited run of the last of the current model. 20bhp less and still 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. Runs out of puff at 143 mph so given a very, very long straight road, my vRS would eventually creep past ;)

They run out of puff very quickly on the motorway. So a modified one, hitting 250-260hp, I'd even expect a standard Octavia vRS maintain the speed at that top end.

Acceleration and cornering, well. That answers itself.

Fair enough, with trans loss and all, but one with a remap? :rubchin:

He is saying the Scoob won, admittedly, but only just?

Steve

They do have the aerodynamics of a barn door - compared to a vRS Octy. :D:D

Are you sure your looking at the Octavia vRS? They're both like bricks!

The Mk 1 Octavia vRS has a cd of 0.29, which is pretty good. An Impreza STI is 0.33 :D:D

it's not that implausible, considering that (standing start aside) a mkII vRS with what...intake, turbo-back exhaust and a remap is as quick as an EVO VII with ~350bhp

:)

 Did I just read that right?

I know someone with a vRS in a similar spec, and I doubt it would keep up with a 350bhp evo (although I wish I could say otherwise)

What evidence do you have to support this claim?
