Mk2 vRS Alarm System

Featured Replies

Just wondering, how can I tell if my '06 vRS has an alarm system? I've tried setting it off so i know what it sounds like, but short from smashing a window, I cant set it off.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Tom

Is it UK spec Tom?

If it is then its a thatcham requirement so it ought to have unless it's a misbuild.

Try leaving a window open and locking the car, then put your arm through the window.

Thanks vRStu,

As far as i ma aware, its UK spec. Bought in sunny Norwich. I have tried the window thing, even locked my wife in there, but that didnt even set it off. Gave me a few minutes peace and quiet though.

I will go and try it again.

i had this with mine, you need to sit still for about a minute then wave your arms around and it should then go off. You are when locking the car only pressing the lock button once and not twice?

I just did the window and reach in thing and it went off - reassuring.

smstext, i pressed 'lock' once, on past occasions I may have pressed it twice - is there a difference?

IIRC if you press the lock button twice it disables the interior monitoring and deadlocks. The same as pressing the little button on the lower half of the "B" pillar on the drivers side.

It's in the manual somewhere, don't ask me, I don't have an Octavia to hand right now :(

it was the mistake i made with mine, i always thought 1 lock was no alarm and 2 locks was the full fort knox effect. but was wrong, skoda do it the other way round.

The other way of setting it off is to lock it with button on Fob then open with Key :) Or pop bonnet, lock car then go open bonnet IIRC ;)

FYI a good way of stopping the alarm if for example the battery is dead in key is to put key in ignition and turn on. :)

I did that for well over 18 months on my old MkI Octavia

when i was at the garage the sales guy showed me around the car and said that by clicking the blip twice it deadlocked the car and alarmed it. proves that sales guys are interested in one thing and one thing only!!

Slightly off topic, but when I bought my Mk2 vRS the sales lad told me the tyre pressure 'set' button 'checked ' the tyre pressures. "Just press and hold it and it will tell you if your pressures are ok or not". Good job I can read.
