312mm Brake Uprgrade, Good Price???

Featured Replies

AFAIK Steve is the only person to offer a kit like that. Those pics of the Fabia were when I did my Fabia ages ago.

Does that mean they've ripped your pictures off then???

Nah - I know Steve.

He is also a member here, he's got a Octy TDi DSG.

No, it probably means he gave Steve permission to use them.

I've had this upgrade for some time and it is worth every penny.

While we are on the subject but not wanting to hijack the thread.

My 30k / 3yr service is up soon and I think I need new pads on my 312mm's. Any suggestions so I can get them before the service is due? Or should I just let the garage put OEM pads on? It's going to be serviced at Blackhorse Skoda in Hereford. Thanks for any advice. :)

Fair enough then.

How much difference, price wise, are the 312mm brake pads???

I think OEM pads are ok. Others may feel differently.

You could try GSF Car Parts and use Freedom Discount (If you are a member of course)

You'll need to buy pads for an Octy vRS and they'll come with a wear indicator which you cut off.

I don't know how the prices compare with the Fabia.

I fitted mine with Mintex extremes for the Audi TT.

do you mean bayhorse chap?

do you mean bayhorse chap?

LOL of course I do.

I'm not having a good week. :o

you in hereford very often as i see a black vrs everyday was wondering if it was you?

I don't suppose you have a ref for them or somewhere on the web to buy the correct ones from. I had a look on the Mintex website but got lost.

Also i've had the Zimmerman drilled disks on for 20k now, should I be thinking about getting them changed also or how can I tell if they need changing?

Thanks for any advice.

Some of the site sponsors will sell them but I got mine from

Motorsport World - Performance Car Parts

My zimmermans have done 50k/several trackdays and when last checked about 3k ago where at 24.3m and 24.2mm so I would say that at 20k they are fine as you can go to 23mm on the front discs (They start at 25mm). I expect mine to last at least 70k and then they will be changed because of rust not wear.

Unfortunatly i'm in London most of the time but work shifts so spend my off days in Herefordshire. I'm up near Hay-on-Wye.

I can't believe how bad the traffic is some days in Hereford, i've started going to Brecon instead of Hereford as if you hit it the wrong time it's murder. It won't be long before you get a congestion charge.

Hi Decron,

Sorry for being a bit thick but are these the correct pads for my 312"'s before I order. Just to clarify these are for the 312" Audi brake set I got from Golfturbo Steve that have been on my VRS for 20k with the standard 16" VRS wheels.

thanks again,

Is it worth upgrading to the 312mm brakes on a standard VRS? I assume they give more stopping power but is it loads better as at the moment when stopping the VRS from speed takes a bit of effert on the peddle.

they are a big improvement ,

but it sounds like you need to have your brakes looked at anyway , the pads are possibly glazed

Its going in for a service and cambelt change soon, i'll get them to take a look unless I end up going down the 312mm route.

If they are glazed, you might find a few high speed stops will sort them out and make them bite nicely again :D

Chris

Are the standard fabia vrs brakes 288mm?

I asked a guy selling some 312mm TT brakes but he said if they are 288 then they will fit.

Yep - standard 288mm and Audi TT 312mm's will fit.
