Trade in 2.0TDi Elegance for Petrol VRs

Featured Replies

Right I have a Octy as per the spec in my sig so loads of extras. Now it's 3 years old this Chrimbo and has 47K on the clock. I have been debating a new petrol VRs for a while now, even more so with the current offers that are on and that they have extended them.

Now I priced up a VRs with all the bits I'd like to make it the same ish as my Elegance Xenons etc. which came out at a RRP of

Get the vRS!!!

You should get a reasonable deal on a new one, and if it's factory order you can add whatever you like from the options list.

What would you class as a reasonable deal?

The spec'd car I want is

Get ready for a kick in the nuts from the dealer. I reckon your looking at 9.5 - 10K for your Elegance, could even be less. Shop around the price differs by quite a lot on px's.

I was offered between 9 - 10.5K for my 2 litre TDI Sport which is only 2 years old with 21000 miles. Ive now decided to stay with it, ive had it with losing so much money on cars.

Good luck, I hope you get the price you want:)

Sell your current car privately and ring round a selection of dealers to get the best price. You lose out if you have a car to part ex.

Must admit I think the dealer will want a lot more then

try Telfords in Carlisle 4 a p/x as they are screaming out 4 diesel fabias & octavias

You sure are in for a disapointment on your expected p/x figure.

Last week I got

If you buy new and sell after 1 year then you are taking the biggest part of the hit on the depreciation, - it doesn't make sense. If you buy new it makes more sense to keep the car for 3 years by which time the depreciation has levelled off and you've had another 2 years motoring out of it.

Of course if you are rolling in it it doesn't matter does it?

Just got

I reckon if you just went in and offered

I know trading in after one year is crazy BUT I am now making

Right - done some research as I'm bored.

www.drivethedeal.com would do the spec you want with metallic paint, british car uk dealer sourced (you actually pick it up from and pay the dealer) for

:P Tyres were just an example.

I know what you mean though, you are interested in the cost to change.

Guys,

Thanks for all your responses I will work through them in the morning and do my maths, to late now and had a few beers watching the Rugby.

Mrs wants me to get the Car, so one major hurdle crossed. This is only because we will get Cash back and she wants the front room doing. I wanted to save the cash for the final payment!!

Will also make a few calls and see what I could get private, had a few people wanting to buy it if I ever sold it, one guy in particular who took my old 3 Year Old Mondeo 2.0 Ghia X is my best hope others are all for it until it comes to pay but I'll see.

Cheers

True, what I am getting at is from face value you could just Valet it, put it up on the forecourt and sell it.

Dealer has the benefit of the balance of the 3 year warranty so could get anything they may find done under warranty. It's on variable servicing so not due for 13K Miles and MOT isn't due until end of December.

That is assuming they can turn it around quickly. Having said that with the offers on at the moment it may be difficult, plus it is to higher price and spec for the usual Taxi brigade.

Could I remove some stuff from it to put in the VRs for example, specifically the Audience header unit and put the VRs one & Six disc stack in the Elegance or is that a no, no?

Going to go and have a look on Saturday at a VRs in the flesh and drive one, so can find out all the other questions I have which I'm making a list off.

Like:

Does the VRs have the Sunglasses holder by the rear view mirror. My shades won't fit in but great for the Mobile with a Bluetooth Car Kit.

Does it have the passenger under seat storage box, safer for the Sat Nav than the Glove Box, and yes I do normally remove it.

And do you get the retractable bag hooks in the boot? Which are great for hanging your take away from and saves stinking out the car and stops them falling over when your on your own.

Does it come with Mats, Door Sill Covers and Luggage Nets as standard

But all that said it greatly depends upon the test drive on Saturday, will it be as good as I am led to believe or will it be not that much different to my TDI..............

If I really like it and want it the rest will fall in to place somehow, one way or the other.

Got loads to think over and work out now, so I'll sleep on it and review in the morning.

I don't think yo'd be wise to try and move the HU. There is also an amp under the passanger seat. There is a 6 disc in the boot.

Yes there is a sunglasses holder.

Yes you'll get the underseat storage.

You get the mats and sill covers but not luggage nets.

Yes you'll get the hooks in the boot.

Stu, thanks for all the info a few more questions off my list. Was thinking about the Head Unit as I'll have to remove it to disconnect the Parrot Car Kit, was debating being able to switch it as I do want MP3 Playback. But like you say the VRs has the CD Stack in the boot to move across as well, then connecting in the Power Amp to much messing really.

How good is it using the plug in the Centre Console and attaching an MP3 Player via that route, is the sound loud enough and not distorted? and does the header unti display track info from the MP3 Tags?

The standard stream HU that comes in the vRS CAN play mp3 CD's like the audience, only issue is you are limited to the one disk in the HU as the changer cannot play them.

Didn't realise that. That would be fine then does the HU display track info by default without many button presses or jsut Track 1 as the Audience does?

I've not really bothered too much with the Stream MP3 and MP

i dont think the stream shows any track info over the MP3 connection in the armrest as its just transmitting sound.
