AMSOIL Synthetic Synchromesh Transmission Fluid (MTF) is recommended for automotive and light truck applications that require synchromesh transmission fluid. Applications include manual transmissions and transaxles such as New Venture NV T350, NV 1500, NV 2550, NV 3500, NV 3550, NV 5600 and Tremec T-4, T-5, T-18, T-176, TKO-500, TKO-600, TR-3450 and TR-3550. Replaces Honda Genuine MTF Fluid for manual transaxles, and MTF-94 as used in some Land Rovers, MGs and Mini Coopers. MTF is SAE 5W-30, however, it is not for use in engines or wet clutches.

Basically, I've got a Civic Type-R. The oilman, has recommened Amsoil 5w-30 to me. But today, I've rang a very well known Tuner for the Type-R, who say's this will not work.

So, the oilman has recommened it, and looking at the above text, it seems correct, although the, 'light truck applications' has me wondering.

I know this is a Skoda forum, but can anyone shed some light?

i think you may be right , 5w30 is surely an engine oil , not a transmission oil , but you never know with those Jap motors

wet clutch in some (most? ) motorbikes , don't know about cars though

The EP3 CTR has a dry clutch and the best oil for the gearbox is Honda MTFIII (including for use with an LSD).
