Panasonic TZ3 Compact Camera

Featured Replies

Posted a few weeks ago wondering what compact camera to buy, read a load of magazine reviews and plumped for this Panny. For those of us who aren't photo--buffs, its 7 megapixel, 10X optical zoom and its got a 3" LCD which is worth a double  . Seems an impressive piece of kit. Toyed with the idea of an entry level DSLR but I wouldn't know what to do with it and they're a bit big for my needs. So far, I'm very happy with it.

Was away for a few weeks (crete, mykonos & santorini and took about 500 photos  . Don't know if they're much good but here's a few interesting examples:

Nice pics

Must say I think the Pannys are the best value around - would have one if my Fuji s602 packed up.

I'm really after the TZ3.

No pennies at the mo, so will have to wait a month or 2. Hopefully the price will drop to a more reasonable

Thing I hate about price runner et al is that some of the cheaper retailers might not be the best for support/shipping speed.

I tend to stick to the big boys these days after being stung before.

Good aren't they, I just got one too... :D :D

nice pictures ...... loving the sunset one

"edit"

Whilst it looks like Spam, my Pan DMC-FZ7 came from the people "micky" mentioned in his post and I must admit the service was good and the price was great.

Quality pictures.

Also look at the LX2, I bought one a while ago and cannot fault it.

Taken in the Caribbean last year without any filters, just a straight shot into the sunset.

We were on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship waiting to depart.

Nice pictures (both of you), the TZ3 pics have really impressed me. I've got an LX1, it produces razor sharp images in good light, but suffers from 'noise' in low light. This has apparently been rectified on the Lx2 (certainly judging by the above shot) but have read reviews that LX2 not as sharp in good light ( I mean no disrespect, I'm first to admit mine is next to useless at darker sunsets) The TZ3 seems to handle both aspects, good at low light and razor sharp too, is it fully auto or do you have apperture priority and other manual modes?

Really like 'windmill shot'

Very nice indeed. I love the sunset one (but I am a sucker for sunsets!)

See that this thread has been brought back from the dead, I still know not a lot about photography but the TZ3 seems quite capable. This was taken from the 23rd floor with nothing other than the night lanscape mode, sat on a table near the window. The only cheat was to use the 2s timer to remove any wobble from pressing the button:

No idea about aperture priority and manual modes, can't say I've ever RTFM.

I will say that when I got it, the improvement over a Nikon Coolpix 3200 (circa 2004) was huge and I was very impressed. Now though, I can see shortcomings in the pictures I'm taking and I'm looking at DSLRs again - 400D down to

Pretty good for a point & shoot though:)

Just bought a TZ3 for SWMBO. Bargain price as the TZ5 has just come out and it's now a discontinued model. The ability and quality of it is amazing, especially given what I paid :)
