Octavia Sport really an Ambiente?

Featured Replies

If the ordered Maxidot and MFSW then this is only a 4 spoke wheel.

The sport is an Ambiente with VRS style bumpers, a boot lip spoiler, sports suspension and the fabric covered sports seats.

Don't think there is much else over the normal car.

have another look over the thread :o

As stated on Skoda.co.uk

Octavia Sport specification, Ambient +

17

The DVLA Log says ambiente, this was the argument i had with the garage. I told the garage that if i wanted an ambiente then why would i spend a few grand more for a sport? but they assured me it wouldnt affect resale value later down the line,,,, yeah right.

I'd get that changed if I were you, my V5C says Sport, so I can't see why yours shouldn't. Looks like your dealer has got that wrong.

What did it say on your sales invoice?

The 05 55 Sport which I had for a short while was listed as an Ambiente, the Option Code sticker in the service book and on the boot floor also stated Ambiente.

My car spec: Ambiente in black pearl with the following:

Small leather pack

Sport body kit (could order it as a dealer fit option on other trim levels at the time)

Sport suspension pack inc. 17" alloys

Sport kick plates

ESP & TPM

Had the rear door Sport badges added when they started to be fitted as standard mid 2006.

Late 2006 I think the sport became a model in it's own right so to speak, with new seats and vRS style steering wheel.

Do remember seeing around the time I bought mine a very early 05 plate Sport in black pearl advertised at Hortons in Lincoln, did not have the body kit; looked very much like a standard Ambiente but with the sport suspension pack, ESP, tyre pressure monitor and front fogs.

A few months later I noticed a Sport was being advertised at a dealer in the Midlands I think, which was in metallic green, not even a recognised Sport colour option.

bit extra info

@simbo, nope no vrs badge on my grill. makefish stuck it on so never lasted to long till it fell off.

I also have a VRS badge on the front too ;) suprising how many people actually think its a VRS with it ;)

Untill you put your foot down!

Mine had it's PDI on 20/08/05 but wasn't registered until November, hence it being a 55 plate.

Can only assume that different dealers have registered them in different ways...

I've replied to a PM' from Paul (SMS) about my V5C which clearly states Sport

It ain't a vRS bumper on the front - not on the Sports that I've seen, anyway!

Simbo is right - here's a pic of my vRS and my work colleague's Sport to prove it

Simbo is hardly ever right, however he got lucky this time - here's a pic of my vRS and my work colleague's Sport to prove it

I have amended your post to prevent Simbo getting ideas above his station

Sport had standard bumpers with the sport body kit panels on top, in effect a double skin bumper.

Found this out when I had rear parking sensors fitted, dealer tried to charged me a bit more than quoted; he didn't realise there were two bumpers to deal with not one.

P.S. my V5c stated sport but as previously mentioned the cars options stickers indicated Ambiente.

Yes the guys that replaced my front bumper after the Snipe incident took some reference photos of the car before ordering the parts, just as well, because the parts that arrived were wrong.

Actually, now you mention it,....

my V5C says Sport, which is what I'd always gone by & the dealer telling me "it's a Sport". On that build options sticker there is a code AMB, I guess the 46 codes in smaller font below that make all the difference.

So, it's hardly surprising then that some dealers have registered them as Ambientes. Which is after all the radio/aircon/gadgets inside...

Well I typed all 46 codes in, the last one

was 2UC which came up as Sports version! :D

Just been out to the car, as the codes came up with a feature I didn't about,

a cubby hole under the front passenger seat (QN1)

does well to keep a micro mitt and window cloth to keep the car in tip top condition inside ;)

I literally lol'd & nearly choked on my cuppa! ...then had to explain to those around me wtf I laughed at! :thumbdwn:

LOL here too... fortunately had finished my beer and SWMBO gone to bed so no explanation required

Well after dealing with skoda uk this week whilst on holiday i can confirm my car is going to be issued a new log book to state that mine is a 2.0 fsi sport as per order. Skoda uk couldnt understand how my car came an ambiente on their system and spoke to the dealer concerned. After a lengthy chat with the dealership manager, skoda uk got back to me to tell me i was correct at the time when i pointed it out to the manager and he has since been given a long talking to about it.

At first skoda uk wouldnt do anything about it till i mentioned that i could by an ambient with sports pack for hell of a lot less and when i sell the car to a non skoda dealer they will go by the V5 which says ambient and i will loose thousands.. After a pause they agreed that it made the car a white elephant and decided to look further.

From what i can read through the lines dealers make more money by putting in an order for an ambient with sports kit than by ordering a sport and this is what had happened even through the factory did make my car up as a sport as per order. Now ive got to wait for about a month for my new V5 to be issued, another deptartment at skoda will deal with DVLA in getting my log book corrected, so yes if you buy your car as a sport it should say so on the log book, however if you buy a car and ask for a sports kit to be added then it wont.

update time, got a letter today from dvla telling me my car had be wrongfully registered and i would need to send back my v5 logbook, in the other envelope is my replacement logbook which states my car as a octavia sport fsi :D have noticed that the log books now tell how many decibels the car is too.
