Dyno video of the mongrel today @ JKM

YouTube - Skoda Fabia PD130 - dyno run at 260bhp!

Enjoy. And before anyone moans about the smoke, this is because they hoof it at 1500rpm, when the turbo is basically doing nothing. Look how clean it is once the boost starts cutting in. Bit of a change from before, eh? ;)

Looks a bit smokey to me.

A bit??!?!

Good result though - even if you did cheat ;)

I won't know the difference laughing gas made until I can get a dyno on another local DD RR without it on. I somehow think it will not really make much difference, perhaps 15bhp?

Also, the low down smoke is always going to happen with a highly fuelled, top end powered car. It's what diesels do when hoofed at 1500rpm, even standard. :D You need to ignore the warning smoke signals and check it once the power cuts in.

not bad, is the actual graph available yet?

My copy is lying atop my LPG tank under the boot carpet to keep it flat. :o Was hoping the scans would be on here soon. :)

Great acheivement, good work.

so what's next then jason?? see if you can break the 300bhp mark?? :D

I would certianly think the standard internals would give up around that mark having seen what happens to the pistons on some standard cars.

Go for 4x4 Jase

You fibbed - you said 260 and it was only 259.4

BTW understand Royal Navy is looking for better 'ship concealment' devices :P

Nice one Jase - good to see you cracked the 250 bhp barrier by a good margin.

A lot of hard work, time and trouble went into the Mongrel - I salute you!

Oh and the smoke is great - perfect for propane, NOS and the occasional tailgater!!

Cheers

Bas

This one comes up alongside yours Jason -

I concur the tailgater thing, but that's really last resort. :) However, the NOS/propane thing is totally irrelevant, as neither are doing anything. That is pure overfuelling, and once boost comes in (which is what triggers the 2 gases) - this is when it really cleans up. Thing is it's that clean once the turbo cuts in, I think the NOS is doing very little at the moment, and that the car is pushing somewhere around 250 without the laughing gas. Yet to be proven though.

Sod the smoke ! :)

That's an excellent result !!!!

I'm assuming that's whp and crankshaft hp will be even higher ?

No it's calculated FWHP.

No it's calculated FWHP.

FWHP = Front wheel Horse Power ?

So crankshaft hp would greater allowing for transmission losses, or am I on the totally wrong track (which wouldn't be at all surprising given the beer consumtion this afternnon !) :D

Yeah - as Stu said. (FW = flywheel) Actual WHP is something I guess they don't tell you? It must be around 235bhp at the wheels though, allowing for 10-15% correction?

FWHP - Fly Wheel Horse Power

Ahh right ... FLYWHEEL horse power !!:)

Thanks for that !

Still pretty impressive though !

In the US they always quote WHP because it's more accurate. For some reason in the UK we use FWHP which is calculated using a correction factor based on atmospherics on the day.

it looks like that bloke actually got quite injured :(

Just out of curiosity. Is it a 50hp shot of NOS?

 Posted that in the wrong thread? Or are you talking about the bloke being clobbered by the wheel at the petrol pump? If so, pretty sure that wheel took out both of his legs.

Snooie - It's 100 shot at the moment, which I believe is too much. I might refit my 50 shot jet today. :)
