Hungaroring

Featured Replies

Bit of a long shot but I know a few of you guys on here have visited some race tracks in Europe and I was wondering if anyone has been to the Hungaroring.

I am going to watch the F1 in a couple of weeks and just wondered what it was like.

That's why I will be actually there and not watching it on the TV

Last years race was good. Also a race years ago when Mansell came from 12th to win. It has a great race about every 6 years on average.

Never been to the circuit though, could go though if i was feeling HUNGARY!!!! (Hungry!) Geddit!!

BOOM! BOOM!!!!

I was there in 1990,when it was boiling hot, dusty and packed with 150,000+ F1 mad eastern europeans and a surprsingly large number of Finns.

The track is slow, with not much in the way of passing places.Last year it rained for the first time ever, and thanks to the rain the race was a real lottery, with lots of leaders, people spinning off and Jenson Button emerging the winner.

The place also used to have it's own brothel in a collection of portakabins by the main entrance, but maybe that's been tided away by now.

The city of Budapest is a real gem, with history round every corner.Cheap booze, hospitable locals, loads of eateries with salt, pepper and paprika on every table.

Enjoy the race and the place.

The Brothel is sill there I think there was something on the BBC site about it.

Went to Budapest about 18 months ago Brilliant City.

I heard the track made for a boaring race so will have to pray for rain.

What about viewing points where's the best place to sit and is it correct you can see 80% of the track from wherever you sit.

I sat in the stand opposite the pits,so the pit building obscured the view to the rest of the track. All I saw was the cars blast past in exactly the same order from the first lap to the last.Thierry Boutsen kept in front of Ayrton Senna for 80-odd laps.If that doesn't tell you it's a poor track for overtaking I don't what will.Let's hope some of the UK's delightful summer rain will fall on the Hungaroring on August 5th.Fingers crossed for Robert Kubica...
