rattle from passengerside of dashboard

Featured Replies

ok this is a common problem i know and has been mentioned so many times on here. I have a skoda fabia vrs 2004 model .

I have a nasty rattle from the dashboard of this car that appears to be coming from the passengerside area of the dashboard. I have taken the glovebox out so i know it is not the glovebox!!

is there any member out there who has had this problem and fixed this rattle problem . i get this metal against plastic rattle sound only when i take up drive or pull away basically when you put the engine or the car under load.

has any one fixed this , or where should i look underneath the dashboard on the lefthand side.

yes i know i should turn the stereo up, but why should i....

the dealer is unable to find the rattle ...............

i know certain rattles etc you have to live with, but this one gets on my nerves......

I have one that's more of a 'buzz' than a rattle and comes from the drivers side dash - either behind the air vent or possibly in the door (either under the heated mirror switch or in the tweeter housing....

I'm going deaf I have the stereo so loud.

i have the same problem. about 1700rpm. no it's not the stutter before you say

Heard about this on the Business update on Chris Evans R2 show yesterday.....

Rattle Buster

Basically its a CD that plays various sounds that mimic engine and road vibrations that cause the rattle to occur, whilst the car is stationary, so you can fumble about trying to find it in safety.

No business connection just thought it was a good idea:D

but this would definetly not cause the same sort of "natural" vibrations an engine would make.

a bit daft really, I checked the date, it's july 24th, not april 1st

Chris,

Ever played something a bit bassy which caused a rattle or vibration? Ever seen sound waves shatter a glass? Its the same principle.

I'm sure the BBC Radio 2 Business Update would not have covered this if it was not genuine. The inventor is selling loads!

:rofl:i have found the fix for this rattle, and no it isnt by turning the stereo up. it by getting off your rear end and doing some work yourself on the car .if you want to know the fix please see my new post on the paseengerside glove box rattle

And that thread is here

Think its this one.

OK, enough fun for the time being....

I have fixed a rattle on my 2004, the dashboard end panel facing the passenger door made a rattle when the car vibrated. Open the glove box and from inside the glove box you see the edge of the piece of trim. Push it toward the door and it should pop off.

Find something (sponge, rubber inntertube, insulating tape) to pack around the joint. and re assemble, could also try silicone spray for a more temporary fix.

Hope this helps,

Also see stabiliser bar behing glove box, air vents in dash, glovebox lid, passenger seatbelt clip rattling on centre console (personal favorite), rattling seat base, handbrake button.

Its a wonder we can hear the stereo:D:D:D
