talextt i beleive its all tomtom's

Hmm will investigate that option, still got to refit my Talex but got no subscription at the moment

I seem to remember it doesn't work on the TT1.

I got a dealer mailshot a while ago, I'll see if I can find it.

As a side note I also got details of a new device that is due in september which looks quite tasty, similar functions to the existing unit but with a few more and a screen.

well it tells me talex layer is activated and thats it. it says it will run on mine as its V6

OK - I've just emailed them asking. I run v6.560 on mine so sounds good.

Apologies, misread your original post. Didn't realise you'd actually bought it already :o - have you emailed or contacted them about the problem? Does it run anything through POIs, like the PocketGPSWorld database? Just thinking if something needs turning on in the POI section of TomTom really...

it doesnt, also talex dont want to get back in contact with me which concerns me. might go back to the pgp database even through it wasnt entirely accurate it did the job.

How is this different from the speed camera database thats free?

I don't think the Pocket GPS one is free any more Col if you mean that one.

Here is the pic of the new Talex device -

any prices for it yet? it would be great for me being a lorry driver. the pgp camera poi's are still free for me as i use to be a contributer when i travelled the country.

I'll know more nearer the launch time. I hope to be getting a 'sample' one.

I could probably get a few shifted if one ended my way ;)

It will for sure look better on my dashboard than yours.

and even better on my truck dash:smrbow:

Just updated my tomtom talex and it now works on the tomtom1, shame the nearest speed camera to me hasnt been updated, if i went the speed suggested by talex then it be a nice 3 pointer each time i went past it.

So it's working now - good news

Would you recommend it? Is it worth the outlay?

If you make a note of it and email them via the link on the website they'll have it checked out ASAP.

Personally, I use POIplace on my PDA, and this seems to be the mose accurate camera DB I've come across so far.

Only issue is that if you use a PDA yopu can get the update using checkpoint. Otherwise, it's a case of downloading each POI set

Right here is the latest, tested today, i still kept my pgp mobile camera database on my tomtom as i trust it. talex showed me a couple of traps i didnt know about (but had a feeling they were trap spots), but marked them 50yds further up the road. It was also about 3/10 of mile warning when i like double that, especially on motorways.

It didnt pick up all the specs on M4 around Reading, missed the first one of both eastbound and westbound, but road angel missed them all eastbound but non west bound (database 2 weeks old might have them on latest). Mobile locations were questionable around Bracknell, even so that im wondering if i made the right choice... Is it just me or has others found the same with talex?

Ive informed talex on the camera near me with incorrect speed, be interesting how long till they update it.

Also tomtom seemed to work alright with talex on it, no problems with resetting or running out of memory, even through hardly any memory availabledue to so much running on it.

Personally, I use www.POIplace.oabsoftware.nl on my PDA, and this seems to be the mose accurate camera DB I've come across so far.

You sure that's the right web address?
