Fabia vRS - gearbox oil: drain and refill?

Featured Replies

anyone performed a gearbox oil change on Fabia vRS?

Looking in ElsaWin there is only one sump plug (which is used for inspection/topping up)... I'm hoping to drop the oil entirely and refill with some Quantum that I got from the Stealers...

anyone got any tips on where I should start??

Not to sound pedantic.... but that isn't really what i asked!

i've ordered the security tool from CCW... should be here friday...

my question centers around the security sump plug; guy at skoda told me that there is only one... and its situated on the side of the gearbox... so how can you remove the existing fluid and refill?

through the drain plug , situated on the bottom of the gearbox casing ,

i mentioned in my original post that the tool is required to remove the drain and fill plugs

sorry!!

I may be missing something here (i haven't removed the soundproofing and inspected the gearbox yet)...

from what you are saying; are there two plugs - a drain on the bottom and one on the side for filling?

that is correct , although the fill plug is on the front of the casing facing the radiator/fan shroud

bottom plug is the drain. side plug is the refill/ top up plug.

done mine . took about 1 hour to do the job = drain and refill

when refitted the plugs i fitted new washers. about 80p from the dealers......

It is really easy - warm trans drains better - tip - open the fill plug before the drain plug - if the fill one is jammed and you drain the fluid you're slightly scr3wed....Many people re-use the metal washers without any probs.....

Please please add exact size/type and description of tool used on the plugs.
