Sean.

Its not telling you to top up the oil (it would be the red light on the dash that came on if your oil level was low) what it is saying is that you need an oil change service done at your dealership , or rather , you need one done within the next 1000 miles or 1 month.

What it's telling you is that it's time for an oil service (ie oil and filter change) I'd advise you to either get the dealer to do this or if your able to do it yourself fair enough but not just to reset the service lights.

Damn ... beaten to it !

If you search on here you will find out how to reset the service light. :)

'Spanner' means it needs a service, however the indicator may be out of sync with actual servicing

'Oil' symbol (in red) means lack of oil pressure

Re: service indicator, read the manual :)

Edit: too slow x 2:(

If you want to know if the oil needs to be topped up, you need to :-

A - Open the bonnet

B - Pull out the dipstick, wipe it (on any old piece of rag, wife's skirt will do fine)

C - Put the dipstick back in again

D - Pull it out AGAIN

E - Look at the dipstick to check the oil level

I know it sounds like a load of hassle, but with a bit of practice, the whole operation can be completed in less than a minute.Honest.
