Ah so the engine is at the front and rear wheel drive via prop shaft? Cool :)

Like the registration on the estelle.

Variety is the spice of life ... I've got 4 Skodas (in purchase order)

1 1990 Estelle, Rear Engine 1179cc Petrol, RWD, 4 door saloon, white

2 1971 Octavia, Front engine 1225cc Petrol, RWD, 3 door estate, red

3 1965 Octavia, Front Engine 1225cc Petrol, RWD, 2 door saloon, blue

4 2005 Octavia, Front Engine 1968cc Turbo Diesel, FWD, 5 door hatch, black

Well, the day of judgement .....

With the invaluable assistance of Wayne today (cheers chap)

The Estelle has been up & running already,

it feels quite modern to drive compared to the RWD Octy.

It'll be even better with an interior in it perhaps with the drivers seat attachedI!!!

But it clearly doesn't want to die so now all it needs is lots of welding....

Great to see the old Skodas being well looked after :)

I think I want one of those Octavias though ...

Talking to the guy that updates the register of Octavias for SOC

3 saloons, 6 estates in UK to his knowledge

plus 4 cabriolets (called Felicias but otherwise the same car).

There's probably a few more lurking away in garages / barns / scrap yards

waiting to be discovered ....

Then there's always the holiday in CZ, bring a car back option

Sort of , it has a transverse leaf spring

Cheers for that, but that just heads into all kinds of additional head-scratching depending on how the spring is mounted!

If it's like on a Corvette, it's a fully independant unit, if it's like on a Herald/Vitesse/Spitfire/GT6, it's a semi-independant swing-spring and, if it's like on a Model T, it's not independant despite the diff being chassis mounted!

  • 4 months later...

Been down to the lock-up today....

1965 Octavia saloon

The good news ...

started up & drove up & down yard

The bad news ...

Heater matrix had sprung a leak & flooded into cabin.

Rubber mat & sound proofing now hung up to dry out.

Will be going to a radiator repair specialist tomorrow to get a quote.

The Estelle

The bad news

It would be like welding up chicken wire.

The good news

It carries a donor card, to allow others to live by donating it's vital organs
