I'm thinking of changing from the standard fit 16" to the mk1 Octy "spider" 17" alloys.

I'm aware I'll need 205/40/R17 tyres, for speedo purposes, but I'm a bit concerned the lower profile might result in a much harsher ride.

You guys have huge experience of such a mod, so, should I be concerned?

Don't wish to spend what is a fair amount then have regrets.

the road will definitely firm up a bit but to be hoest I'd go with a full eibach suspension kit to go with it as the car may look on stilts and the uprated shocks will help even out the firmness of the ride.

Really suit the Fabby and look classy

Would have them but for the ride deteriorating.

The ride is no different. If anything, the 16s handle a little bit better.
