Is It Me or Does yours Idle ok?

Featured Replies

Please let me appologise if this has been said before but im new and not read all the posts yet.

Having had my Fabia for 5 years and dont take much notice of it, every now and then while sat at traffic lights my Fabia occasionally idles a bit funny, just like there is a very small mis fire. I have been back to the dealer on numorous occasions but they keep saying that its standard and all Fabias do it? Does anyone else have the same problem.

What engine does it have? The 1.4 MPi especially is prone to a 'lumpy' idle. A new coolant temp sensor can help AFAIK, but if it's anything like the one I put in my wife's car, it won't cure it completely. My vRS shudders every now and again as well - I think it's just one of those things...

Ironically it is the 1.4mpi. I had a funny light come one the dashboard bout 2 years ago (The warranty was in date with a week left) and they had the car for 2 days and replaced what they said was a few "dodgy" sensors. Looking at the paper work I think they did replace the coolant one, And now I think of it, it has been a lot better since but to me never perfect. Thanks for your help my friend though.

The idle on the 1.4 mpi is quite lumpy, I find running it on super unleaded helps mine.

I had a mk3 golf 1.4 and it's idle was very lumpy, almost felt like it would cut out. I was told by my VW dealer that this was 'normal'.

Thanks for your help my friend though.

*ahem*

my vrs 07 plate is the same a bit lumpy now and again and also an annoying slight jerk or misfire on a cceleration deceleration etc....

The 1.4 is a modified Skoda 1.3 unit from the Felicia. Running it on super might help but normal unleaded will be fine.

When i had the 1.6 Felicia I used injector cleaner and the engine did rev more cleanly, I did have a full servicde done too with new plugs and oil.

I have used injector cleaner in the Favorit havent noticed much difference yet. Almost time for a full service on this one.

Try injector cleaner, then fill the car with fuel, go for a good drive then see what happens.
