Oil leak front of engine persists (renewed bungs & gasket) fuel pump blanking plate?

Featured Replies

Still having an oil leak problem on my Favorit 94 136 fuel injection engine.

I have used engine cleaner to clean the engine up a bit and removed the cam shaft cover and renewed the gasket and all rubber bungs. I have tightened this cover relatively tight (could probably go tighter).

Here is the latest pic of where the leak appears to be coming from after running the car for 20 miles or so.

Could it be leaking from the fuel pump blanking plate? I have looked on the ETOS (skoda parts) diagrams and the only thing listed on there is the studs for this part of the engine.

Would it be worth purchasing new studs, trying to remove the fuel pump blanking plate along with the studs and sticking new ones in, and putting some sort of liquid gasket type stuff behind it?

I notice one part on the parts list for skoda is some sort of sealing paste. I wonder if something like that would work?!

try jorily skoda on ebay .he mite have a gasket

Hoping someone else has had this sort of leak before and knows what needs swapping/sorting/smashing to pieces to get it sealed up, - so will wait a bit before I get onto Jorily. It's not a bad leak anyway, it's sort of a drip but I don't want to go around leaving small puddles in car parks etc.

That looks like it should have 3 studs fixing it, not 2?

I doubt that new studs will do anything for it; remove it, then clean the mateing faces and reassemble with a cork gasket (if possible) and a smear (not huge gobs) of gasket compound.

Is there a standard cork gasket for this plate, and would it be available from a Skoda dealer?

And I forgot to add that the top left stud or nut (not sure which) is very loose and does not appear to be holding.

Edit again: Guess I'm looking for cork gasket material to cut to size, like Cork Gasket Material, 1.5mm. on eBay, Other Classic Car Parts, Classic Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (item 290150570205 end time 22-Aug-07 10:39:42 BST)

No idea, no idea, that changes my ideas about the fixings (but I suspect a semi-stripped block thread, or over-length fixing. Try putting a couple of penny washers unde the head), and that'll do it if requires, in that order.
