My girlfriend offered to pay for the painting of my new lip spoiler (http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/my-rear-end/87420/) for my birthday pressie, but wanted to give her approval first - I think she was concerned it would be a big picnic table / whale tail thing!

Anyway, I sent the pics to her, and the reply was "I suppose this is the male version of 'accessorising' isn't it?! I choose a bag to match an outfit, you get a spoiler to match your car!"

So for all those who have lots of plans awaiting approval from SWMBO, perhaps the answer is to refer to it as accessorising rather than modifying!

If she complains too much you could always suggest an accessory (lip related) for her
