remap

Featured Replies

Buying a re-map via ebay is dangerous imho and normally cheap remaps are just that!

I have the same one on mine, no issues so far.

f1btn- yeah i wasnt sure thats why i thought id ask, but if its from a company who specialise in remaps and they have done others with no problems then i thought id check them out first.

liverpolool lad- did you get a custom map done? and was the service good?

as ive been looking for mine to be done once i get the clutch changed and havent found muc in the midlands for our cars, i saw that these would come to me and thought they would be ideal.

Its not a custom map as they cost

This might interest you if your after a remap soon. Im having mine done.

yep the clutch is gone, its slipping in every gear so its only got weeks left, im looking to get a fast road organic clutch. then get it remapped, the deal on ebay is that he said he will travel to the midlands to map cars aswell as the local area

Youcan pretty much gurantee its ripped off software anyhow so its a gamble who wrote it originally. Might get lucky.

I looked into this remap and also asked the seller if the map was generic or noin generic and got this reply:

"The map is for the h/w and s/w version of your ECU. There is no generic map as so many different h/w and s/w versions for vag 1.8T. But it is not customised to your particular car. A true custom tuning file would need a rolling road, with hours and hours of diagnostics, access to a tuned file programmer (not just a set of different maps)and can cost

I couldnt fault him, seems a genuine and knowledgable bloke too.

Be interested to know how an ECU program can be TUV approved?

TUV approval tends to be for the ISO9001 certification of the processes the mapper uses, as opposed to it being for the 'map' itself, at least that's how I interpret the info I just read on the German site :)

Impossible do their Custom remaps for
Had my 110 TDi re-mapped yesterday at Impossible in Rochester it was a custom map and took about 2 hours, the guy there knows his stuff, listens to what you want to get out of the car and wont over do it so reducing risk of excess wear to clutch etc.

I'm amazed at the difference it has made I'm having to get used to driving my car all over again it's so different now. Worth the journey down to them. :D

I cannot remember how many journeys I've made to them. Mike is fantastic!

I had this MAP about two months ago, Jason came to house (Sheffield). Copied my current MAP and flashed with new MAP, compared figures before and after, to date everthing been running great, went to JBS Friday and had a health check and they were quite surprised with the quality of the MAP, good power/torque and very kind to the car. Good levels of boost which held through the range, good MAF and no iginition correction.

No issues so far with fuel, under normal driving get more MPG due to increase in torque, obviously lively driving and you'll use a little more, but have plenty of :D :D :D

I think Jason also offers a postal remap if your intereseted and prepared to remove ECU for about

Forgot to mention the website for Jason outside of ebay is MORE-BHP.COM - MOBILE CHIPTUNING NORTHWEST ENGLAND gives you some ideas on gains etc. :)

Quick question-

Are there any issues with ecu removal-for postal remap? would the immobiliser need to be reset etc.

Thanks

Not the immobiliser no. Once you get it back it should be fine. If you plug anoher ECU in in the meantime, you'll need to re-code the keys.

This is a difficult way of doing it. Why would you want too?

There are at least two people on this thread that have this remap and are very happy with the gains and reliability. The seller also does a backup your current map.

Ok so there are 2 people who are impressed with the maps! Have they driven other mapped cars? Have they any knowledge with log files in fact does this guy even bother with log files! There are many re-mapping companies out there who do not do things in the correct fashion we recently where approached by a very famous remapping company and where gobsmacked by there ignorance to the problems that might arise by flashing all cars not just vag group so i would say be vary careful cos a well mapped car will start and perform in any weathers and situations, most cars are ok though in the summer months!

Just out of interest what is the fuel consuption like with these e-bay mapped cars?

Look forward to the replies........
