remap

Featured Replies

Ok so there are 2 people who are impressed with the maps! Have they driven other mapped cars? Have they any knowledge with log files in fact does this guy even bother with log files! There are many re-mapping companies out there who do not do things in the correct fashion we recently where approached by a very famous remapping company and where gobsmacked by there ignorance to the problems that might arise by flashing all cars not just vag group so i would say be vary careful cos a well mapped car will start and perform in any weathers and situations, most cars are ok though in the summer months!

Just out of interest what is the fuel consuption like with these e-bay mapped cars?

Look forward to the replies........

Better than standard when cruising. Start and perform in any weathers? Had no issues at all, no fault codes, warning lights, nothing. Its performing great.

Ok well i hope that you dont have any issues and that the car performs well while you own it,at the end of the day you pays your money and you takes you choices!

We offer custom-code as it has never caused an problems to our customers cars and the car performs as it would do standard i.e it behaves itself in all temperatures and situations it also returns better fuel consuption than standard (unless your hoonin it) so we stand behind our experiences with these maps and others that have been on customers cars and the custom-code ones have given the least amount of troubles over the long term! Anyway if your happy with the map and the service provided then i would say its a bargain as far as you and others are concerned but i would think that a cc car would perform better if it has the correct map on it!

What do you mean by 'the correct map'?

I know a guy that lives in essex and remaps cars from his home in actuall fact he has remapped hundreds of vag cars from home, and not once has he had a problem quite the reverse actually people are recomending others to him all the time, i am not going to say who this is on here ofcoarse nor whether his maps are ripped of or not but my point is all his clients have been thrilled and had no problems arise from the map, sure i can understand people such as traders who get upset when certain individuals can offer the same product for

Its also worth considering that you coul dhave issues with a remap from any of the big tuners. I know of people that have had big problems with a company in the east of england and others who have had problems with another some way up north.

Just because its cheaper than others doesnt' mean its a load of rubbish. Running a unit and rolling road etc. costs money and will invariably involve passing on the cost to the customer. If these guys have very small overheads and run from their home, perhaps they can just afford to charge less?

I wonder if some on this thread are just frightened of a bit of competition ? ;)

:iagree:

Competiton is healthy in my opinion.i was just interested thats all if you want to get your car tuned by anyone i would make sure that they understand about software coding etc before they do it as most companies ignore such obvious information!

Given that people tend to come here (via a Google search, for example) when they have a problem rather than to say how good a tuner is etc. and the only time this guy's work is mentioned on the site is people who have been pleased with his product, perhaps he does actually know what he's doing?

:iagree: Good points Phil.

Its not a custom map as they cost

Ahh but as we all know, its about the way it drives and not the headline figures ;) A well known tuner's figures have often proved to be "variable" anyway, so given that my old Octavia had 219bhp on it's tuner's rollers and only 208 at Marlin, its fair to say that you could easily apply a +/-10% margin on ANY tuner's map.

You quote 225 bhp from this map, but I have to ask, have you, or anyone else with this map been on a rolling road to prove these figures????

A graph from the RR (well from a reputable one) will show the correct BHP and torque, and more importantly the way the map gets to these figures, it will also show rougue power spikes etc that are damaging to the engine etc.

Please show us a graph on an Octy vRS from this tuner????

Hence the ??? marks.

And as said, dont read into rolling roads much.

brother's car's been to 3 of the "brand name" tuning outfits now and only once has it returned home without any issues (optimistic graphs aside ;))

:)

I don't think Gerry is that interested in headline figures but more how and where the power is delivered. That's much more of a good indication as to how good a map is than the peak figures achieved :D

Im doing quite well then for 4-5 months down the line then with no issues  This thing has only done 48k though.

Well done Chris, at least one person read the post how it should be read, and not just ducked the issue of a graph, yet again.

Without a RR graph, how can Liverpool Lad know it is perfect???? Its very easy to say it runs perfectly on the road, but how do you know what the engine is having to do to get that output ??

We all know that most RR's are a lottery, but they do serve a purpose when finding out how the power delivery is given and how safe it is for the engine etc.

As shar1296 mentioned on page 2

"went to JBS Friday and had a health check and they were quite surprised with the quality of the MAP, good power/torque and very kind to the car. Good levels of boost which held through the range, good MAF and no iginition correction."

It would be interesting for someone to do a vag-com BHP/Torque graph of an octy with this map if a rolling road is unavailable.

for tiny bit more money you can have DNA Tuning remap which is really good in my opinion. i have it for quite a while and everything is great.

Indeed I did !!! However, after two failed attempts to get on the rollers, I shall be hoping 3rd time is lucky !!!!

Whilst Im not bothered about the high BHP figure, i would like to see a graph of the Power delivery. All I know for now is the car feels good with smooth power delivery through the revs, a totally different car to drive than before the MAP. Normal driving using the available torque and good use of gears, gives about 5mpg more on average, give it some welly and well your looking for the next garage pretty soon.....

Hope to get on the rollers in the next week or so, when I will post the graph - good or bad !!!

I will try and obtain a copy of the VAG charts before and after the MAP and post them.........sure there will be someone on here who can interpret and give us the low down !!! :D
