Shell V power diesel

Featured Replies

First time I have seen any around here ...but a pump has been given over to it in Swindon ...so I thought I would try some to see what all the fuss is about..........WOW engine is more responsive, quieter, smoother and the mpg is up by 3 so far ....the effect was noticable within 15 miles......just have to see if it cuts back on the smoke now

which one was that at then?

Hya - out of interest (always liked Shell Diesel Extra so far), what fuel do you normally use?

I found SDE to be less smoke, slightly smoother and a few mpg better compared to normal Shell Diesel or others. BPUltimate is too expensive to bother with where I normally fuel up.

Interesting the difference was so pronounced though :)

Been through a lot,

tried the Asda/tesco ones, Yuk very rough poor performance.

Esso not too bad, then just by chance tried some normal shell which was smoother and more respnsive than Esso.....and now the V power diesel 99.9p a litre ....at the moment it's working well....and the difference is very noticable

Very interesting results, Rob. I'm impressed at how quickly you noticed a difference - did you fill up from practically empty or is it mixed in with other fuel?

There wasn't a lot in the tank (maybe 10 litres) and I put

Near to Coate water

On the marlborough Rd, near the hospital ;) without having to venture into the darkest depths of Swindon or through the Park South Estate  (well from the A419/M4 side anyway.

I would have to agree. My engine running very nicely and definately better MPG. No one could see much smoke from mine on Saturday in Keswick, when I was giving it a good run at the meet.

Just found a problem with the fuel  so much more power my engine must not liked it too much and this morning it went into limp mode  (not much power is there) so pulled over and switched off then started it again and it all seems fine, so I might just go back to using normal Shell diesel

 - to be fair I dont think that will be your problem, worth checking out what the problem is.

Is there an index somewhere showing which Shell garages are selling this fuel? I can't seem to find anything on the shell website.

I fill my Fabia vRs with the Shell V Power and I can tell a difference, been using it for a month now and there is less 'black' on the back and the engine is quieter and seems to pull better. My MPG has gone up 4 - 5 and I don't really drive any different, I regularly get 50 MPG on the work run now where it was a struggle to get 45/46 before.

I know it's 6p/litre more but after working it out cost wise to MPG, there is none, or very little difference than using the normal Diesel if you use it long term. :)

Ben

none in south wales!

A shell on my commute has some now. It was 7p a litre more.... Sod that. A good dash of millers and I went for the 95.9ppl stuff.... Still getting damn good economy.

Must say i'm suprised at it going into limp mode as a result of a change of fuel generating too much power..........surely it wouldn't change the output by more than 10-15bhp, if that, given than some manufacturers claim 2 or 3 hp increase from changing the air filter?

I've been running the v-power stuff for a couple of months, and double-dosing on the Millers..........I've not gone into limp mode yet (despite finishing off a front set set of michelin pilot sports.......*cough* hooligan * cough*

Apparently it's in my town! Methinks I'll give a tankful a go after this one is up. :)

I picked up the usual pump, put the fuel in then noticed the 99.9p a litre and realised I was filling up with V power derv from completely empty.

Bit late so I figured I would give it a full tank, and TBH the millers + derv extra is every bit as good if not better and a lot cheaper too.

I filled up a full tank of the normal shell stuff last night, and then noticed the V-Power. I think I'll wait till I've emptied the full tank and fill it up with the gold stuff. Hopefully i'll notice the difference and its not all in my head ;)

I'm currently running on a regular shell diesel + millers tank. I don't usually use any shell fuel, but this tank seems to be giving me an extra 3 or 4 mpg over my usual supermarket fuel. No difference in power though. It could be purely I've had more green lights / less stops while driving, but I'm tempted to keep using the regular shell diesel - It's the same price as the nearest tesco too.
