• Unable to collect car from garage
  
• Claiming car was picked up
  
• Wasting a day confirming what I confirmed within 20 mins from Holland - namely they had not instructed the garage(s) involved
  
• Trying to claim 9k worth of damage was done (which I doubt is even remotely true)
  
• Claiming Skoda Fabia vRS with propane fumigation are very common (and had seen 10+ crashed...)
  
• Insisting over and over that I really should not buy it back (even though it makes economic sense, if it gets scrapped or fixed up)
  
• After confirming the buy back, forgetting to tell me on the 22nd when it was agreed, that I had to send, in writing, the finance settlement figure to the insurer so it can be actioned
  
• Forgetting to inform the (second) garage the car was a write off, so they could invoice the insurer and release the vehicle to me
  

Incompetence doesn't quite summise it. It is pretty obvuious the person dealing with my claim was fine, only when she went on holiday things went totally pearshaped, now she's returned and things are distinctly improving again.

My phone charges are gonna be sky high, international rate calls during peak time and then sitting in queues 20 mins a go is not a good way of spending my life..

On the positive side, the (second) garage knows me by name, and had a second Fabia vRS in :( - plus the lady dealing with my claim was almost more annoyed then me about it and will sort it out.

Fingers crossed this gets sorted soon, I need this sorted whilst in the UK rather than having to sort even more out whilst in the Netherlands...

Oh but it will work out, as I will be chasing their *rses tomorrow. They have no choice but to sort it or I will be going higher up - have half a mind to do that anyway due to the damage assessor's trying to flog my car situation anyway.

I have actually lodged that as a complaint already via the person dealing with my claim, so it should be on file...

Complaints seem to do the trick. I told them I was going to complain about my insurance taking too long, said that if I didn't hear anything by the Thursday I was going to take it further. Settlement figure on the Wednesday at 5pm.

Seems they're playing silly buggers. Good luck, shame you're away from the UK, must be a tad expensive. I'm dreading what my mum says about the next phone bill!

ive had a lot of greif over the last 2 months with a claim. i had to sort out hire car as my insurance company wouldn't tell me why i couldnt have one for first week so sorted out on myself through 3rd party insurers who are now waiting for invoice from my insurance company and enterprise who are waiting for things from 3rd party insurers! enterprise have taken over 1k on my card without my consent as they feel aig wont pay even though churchill have letter saying they will and now they are just pointing fingers at each other whilst i have a nice big charge card bill to pay. and ive had 2

Some positive development, the garage was informed yesterday by Shelly (the person who is obviously good at her bit, unlike the others that took over whilst she was on holiday) that the car was a write off, that I was purchasing it back, and that they should invoice the insurance company involved.

Have a feeling the finance company will be sorted too

No news yet - got someone looking into it for me with contacts - hopefully that will shed some light on it. That said I may have a letter at home about it, although I somehow doubt it :(

Personally, I wouldnt buy a write off, but hey.

Hope the news on the cause comes quickly. You really need to know for peice of mind, and also whether the police may take things further.

Worst the police can do is to say it was my fault and then I'll have to go on a 1 day awareness type course at 60 quid cost - no problem doing that anyway.

As I had a witness though I doubt it will go that way, but you never know I suppose.

The Escort won't be modded - at least it is very doubtful
