Rear Tracking not Adjustable on MK1 Octy?!

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

My car has been pulling to the left of late and I took it in to get the tracking sorted but they told me they could only adjust the tracking on the front of the car. The made some changes but thr car still pulls to the left.

If they are indeed correct and the reat tracking cannot be adjusted on a MK1 Octy is there anything than can be done to correct the problem on the back?

Here are my car specs:

2004 Mk1 Octavia 1.9TDI Ambiente

34k miles

Firestone tires (no uneven wear)

Tire pressures 30psi all round

If there is nothing that can be done I am considering getting rid of it and buying a MK2 instead as the guys said that car can be adjusted on the rear. Please let me know if anyone has had similar experiences.

Although the amount the rear tracking is out by is still well within NCT (Irish MOT) limits I am concenered it may not stay that way since Irish country roads are so dodgy and I would like to put an end to the car pulling to the left. Thanks in advance for your efforts

Not sure how useful this is but the only one with a fully adjustable rear is the 4x4. My big question would be how is the rear tracking out if it can't be adjusted?

Btw, you can buy adjustable camber bolts for most cars to enable the rear to be adjusted, but not sure if they're available for the Octy Mk1....

Chris

the rear end of the 4x4 isn't fully adjustable but more adjustable than the FWD ones i think. if yours is out then something is probably bent due to big pot holes etc.

I was told that the rear could be adjusted by moving the whole beam slightly?

If you are really concerned & can afford it ask a bodyshop to put it on their jig, that will confirm beyond all doubt whats out. Remember roads are naturally cambered to the outside to let water run off so all cars will drift a bit to the left
