Two Din Fascia Plate

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Anyone used one of these in 2001 Fabia?:

It's a Connects2 fascia plate CT24SK03.

My current Skoda adapter, when used with a flat fronted single din Symphony unit from an Octavia leaves a gap between the flat front of the radio and the top of the convex curved cubby below which is unsightly so I was thining of using one of these.

Trouble is they say only suitable for a 2005 onwards Fabia.

To me the dash is the same but can anyone elighten me before I chuck

Do you already have the cubby hole tray in the lower DIN?

I did in mine and used the Autoleads single DIN adapter that has about a 5mm flange across the top to fill the gap. Paid

I currently have the OE Skoda adapter which is a filler strip that goes across the top of the radio. The problem I have though is between the bottom of the radio and the cubby beneath.

I think if it bothers you then it may be a

Skomaz,

I had the same problem...

I got hold of some 3mm thick epdm rubber from work (think it cme from RS components) and cut itto shape with a really sharp knife (so you get a decent smooth edge) and then stuffed it in.

See what you think! :)

Think I'm going to give it a whirl as I looked at it again this morning and it does annoy me!

I'll try and let you know the outcome!

OK well I decided to go for one of these as the gap I have is much larger than the piccies above and does annoy me. It arrived whilst I was away on hols and I had a look at it on Monday. Initial impressions are OK as the quality seems fine and the colour and texture seems to match OK. It is slightly different though in that it replaces the sides of the radio surround as well as the top (inlcuding where the cupholder goes) and has a bevelled edge against the radio.

Anyhow I had a go at fitting it and found that the clips that hold it in place to the right of the radio o not match holes in the dash for the OE blanking plates (obviously they changed these between my 2001 model and the newer 2005 model).

Hence it needs a slight modification and the dash needs a couple of new holes. When I get time I'll sort these and hopefully get a piccie up.only slight p

Ok well finally got round to sorting this which took an hour or so. Piccies are attached but I reckon it looks better than before as no gap.

In the end only the holes in the right hand end of the radio recess needed changing. At the top the clip fits into the right hand edge of the recess rather than the existing hole in the rear of the recess. I therefore extended the existing hole (yellow on Piccies) to the right and down slightly to suit (red on piccies) using a penknife. At the bottom the existing hole (yellow on piccies) needed widening slightly and also lowering slightly (red on piccies) to get the surround to sit level and not foul the switches above, again easy with a penknife.

Anyhow judge for yourself!

Wjile I was at it I used speaker surround cloth to line the cubby and also did a box for putting the CD changer into the boot (the wife prefers this as it's easier to reach than under the seat). The latter was MDF and clips to the passenger side cubby in the boot and is again covered by speaker cabinet cloth.
