Not really. I was doing exactly 70mph and no more on the motorway and 60mph on the run-up to the motorway on the single-carriage way national speed-limit roads towards Bedford. It's half-term so none of the roads had any traffic (read: ridiculously over sized rapper wagons and so called "off-roaders") on them. The M6/M1 motorway was clear too, however on my outward journey there was a traffic accident on the opposite carriage way that slowed us slighty. I do occasionally 'draught' trucks at a fair distance, but never when I have passengers and certainly not cars. It is franky shocking just how much of an improvement draughting has on your car, try it behind a truck on the motorway and watch your instantaineous MPG as you sit behind it for a few miles, then slowly pull out. Your MPG will plummet greatly!

Anyway, my register (2) doesn't look too different to everyone elses on here I thought :P So I'll leave it at that! ;)

I've just passed 1000 miles in my new Fabia vRS' date=' here's what the number 2 trip computer says:

1022 miles

27:59 hrs:mins

37 mph

48.9 mpg[/quote']

Just past 2000 miles and here's what the trip computer said for the 2nd 1000:

969 miles

30:37 hrs:mins

32 mph

47.2 mpg

And after 3000 miles here's the third instalment:

1016 miles

29:26 hrs:mins

35 mph

48.7 mpg

All seems pretty consistent really.

Filled up with ultimate diesel when I left, using the expansion tank. Got back and the needle still hasn't moved off "full

Sorry what expansion tank??

Sorry what expansion tank??

When you use the little air vent on the right of the fuel filler pipe to cram as much fuel in as possible.

My Octy 1.9 TDi 110bhp has just done over 2500 since i got it (with 8900 on the clock SH when I got it) and it is sitting at 50.2mph (my spreadsheet mpg is 49.05 though).

Coming back along the M3 last night' date=' my Tomtom gave the following from my fabia vrs speedo

Speedo 70 = GPS 66

Speedo 80 = GPS 75/76

Speedo 90 = GPS 85/86[/quote']

Same results in my leon over the same stretch of road:thumbup:

Sorry - I'm confused - mind you, sometimes that's not too difficult.

I only found this in mine the other day... When you unscrew the filler cap there is like a little nobble that sticks out from one side. If you push it with the filling pipe it vents the tank and you can fill up more!;)

Mostly long motorway trips - explains the higher average speed and better economy.

Looks like my projected MPG of 45 is safe!

hummm i recommend keeping the Furby vRS at 1,500revs and you can easily get a good MPG as well as rant past the traffic when the Torque kicks in, (i dont understand though how 1,000 revs doesn't produce good MPG) also i noticed that if u get up to speed quickly you do better MPG (Floor it to 30, 40, 50 and then stick it in 1,500 revs)

so if you keep things leagal and stick to speed limits you can getta good MPG (honest i never speed  )

oh yeah putting your foot down also makes the car run Greener because more of the bad Gases get burned off (Higher Pressures and Temps)

My wife's Fab vRS has just passed 1100 miles and trip 2 shows 53mpg. Thats with a few long trips where I really tried to get better but with luggage, two up and keeping it to 75 I was lucky to get over 50. Around the town seems to be over 45 mpg but as Tigger said if you use more power to get up to cruise speed the MPG doesn't seem to suffer like the petrol vRS Octi.

Chris

My R reg SEAT Cordoba 90 TDi has just passed 560 miles on 3/4 of a tank is that impressive????

(And that is without the vent trick)

Im upto 7,000 miles now avg MPG above 50 probably because this ikle skoda handles so well (recommends take corners wide to also getta good MPG  )

some trips home when tired from GF's can getta MPG of 65+ but when more awake is cancelled out by the 40ishMPG there

Anyway it isn't the Diesel you need to worry about its the Front Tyres, i only got a 1,000miles ish left on mine and at

This latest update takes me to over 7000 miles. After the 1st 3k it's always been above 50mpg.

Mines now done 13,000 miles since April and it's average is 50.7MPG according to the fuel computer. My spreadsheet has it at 49.9MPG which is understandable because the garage reset it sometime ago which accounts for the 0.8MPG difference.

No worries whatsoever on the fuel consumption front people!

(It's just a shame the same can't be said about the fuzzy seat covers :(:(:()

Furby 1.4 TDI average about 75 mpg with 15K on clock. The real figures are rather complicated. I consistently get a very different figure going to work and coming home. Similar traffic and speeds. Checks on wind etc show this is real effect. Suspect something to do with way torque / turbo is "used" and the shape of the hills encountered. This may be linked to the way one can drive economically at (say) 60 steadily, but get better indicated mpg by going quickly up to 80, which takes only a few seconds, then backing off and it shows very good mpg for many miles thereafter at about 65-70. Anybody else seen this phenomenon?

Oh by the way anyone any suggestions for seats (small s) ? I cannot get rid of backache with this Furby.

Mine now has 13,000 miles on, average MPG about 40 MPG. But I do drive fast, and most of my driving is city centre, and B-road driving, lots of hills and corners too :D
