Need More POWER!!!

Featured Replies

Whats the cheapest way of getting some extra power from my car? iv had the re-map, de-finned the airbox and got pd160 air intake so far.

I dont want 2 spend loads and loads so just wondered what my options r and how much they will all cost?

extra power always comes with extra cost , so you'll have to fork out for a FMIC, then another remap to take that into account , but before that why don't you fit an uprated hybrid turbo ,

Ask Jason (aka Devonutopia). Although I can't really speak for diesels, but I guess it is the same as with petrol power, you're not going to find anything to give you a significantly quicker car once it has been remapped without spending

Iv got a sachs organic clutch in there already so i can handle any extra power iv got 2 give it........touch wood!

The FMIC, thats the cooling unit is it not? What sort of extra gains will that give me?

What wud happen if i fit a FMIC with out remapping again? will the ECU not 'learn' and componsate?

What about new PD150 Turbo, will that give me any gains? im sure i cud pick 1 up second hand 4 not 2 much?

The fmic on its own without a remap will give little or no gain, it needs a map that takes it into account.

ok, im a complete novice with all this stuff so ur have 2 bare with me! How will just cooling the engine better improve the performance? with the remap, what sort of power increase will i b looking at?

The intercooler won't buy you hardly any gains. What it will mean is you don't lose power as a result of heat soak. :D FMIC and hybrid turbo (with a re-remap) are the way forward....

FMIC for

Turbo on its own is a waste of money - you need a remap to use it safely and effectively.

fair enough, this is all good stuff cheers guys!

one last question, bigger turbo and remap will get what sort of power with out the FMIC? if i went down the bigger turbo and remap route 1st will i have to get it mapped again when and if i get the FMIC?

Yeah the ECU basically controls everything. If you modify anything, it needs to be reprogrammed so that it can take advantage of them. Running anything without remapping the ECU is dangerous as it's going to be running on the wrong parameters which could do some serious damage.

You're best off talking to the various tuners about expected power of just adding a new turbo. I'm guessing that without a FMIC, it's going to be seriously limited.
