Knock Sensor

Featured Replies

Sorry to ask this as I expect its been asked many times before, but I cant find the threads.

Its been brought to my attention by the wonderful Skoda garage  that I need a new knock sensor. Is this difficult to get to? (believe its at the back of the block (1.4 16v)) and wheres the best and cheapest place to source?

Thanks in advance

Yep back of the block in the middle under the manifold. MUST be torqued correctly for it to work.

Thanks for the replies. How difficuilt is it to get to and torque up? Should I put a whole day aside to do it?

This thread has been dead for thirteen years, there's a near zero chance of getting a reply, best thing to do is start a new thread about your particular problem.

Is this on your BZG?

What makes you think it needs replacement?

Tenth photo in this listing shows it just below the plastic coolant pipe going across the back of the engine:

Hmm, it would be a lot easier to get at from below. You'd probably have to remove inlet manifold, fuel rail, injectors and all sorts to do it from the top.

Fault lights on?

ok so if i do it from the below, i would be able get to it straight away without anything blocking the way? am i right?

that is the thing, no fault lights at all, i would have thought it would pop up but nothing, yet i am having the symptoms of a dodgy knock sensor.

Without a fault code read, I would say you're probably wasting money and time swapping sensors out on a hunch. If it is the knock sensor, I'm pretty sure a fault code would be stored.

Find a member near you with VCDS and get it scanned.

i like to try scan it myself, is there a budget one you could recommend please?

Sorry, I have no idea what works on a mk2. Full VCDS surely does but that's proper money.
