4x4+PS= Very Annoying!!!

Featured Replies

A stupid "you know what" hit reversed into me today!!

The title i have written is 4x4 (as in a 4x4 car) +PS (plus parking sensors) as the car had parking sensors and yet he still managed to smack right into me!!

There was even a round mark on the plastic trim where one of the parking sensors had hit the bumper.

He admitted liability at least and said he just wasnt looking. Dealing with it privately but still got his insurance details just incase and has a pic of the back of his car too!

Just waiting to hear back about a quote... will take from a Monday to a Friday to do the work so will be getting a courtesy car too... probably a fabia because thats mainly what the garage use as them.

It will involve... new healight unit, new indicator unit, new front grille, new plastic trim across front bumper, new front wing, plus some repair work under the bonnet where the headlight unit and grille are attached to (all buckled but perfectly safe to drive and not a write off) and then all the painting of grille, front wing and then blending the wing into the passenger side door so that it isnt too obvious that its been sprayed.

Damage to his car.... scuffed bumber and broken parking sensor!!!

Thanks for letting me rant on... am really annoyed by this!!!!

p.s. also aquired a screw in my back tyre today... luckily i need new tyres for MOT end of this month.

Not to be too depressing , but I bet you that in a couple of days you'll get a letter from his insurance company saying that you drove into the back of him.

Well if that happens... i was parked with my handbrake on and i have a woman who was kind enough to give me her details and said would be a witness to it if i have any problems!!!

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Ive nearly hit a few things and i have parking sensors. (n00b me)

Good job you're dealing with it privately, even though there's not much damage, i reckon an insurance company would write it off unfortunately. :(

Lol... yeh i think they would... i reckon its gonna cost an absolute bomb to fix it... i got a quote for a little scratch before and was over £300 so i reckon a £1000 easily... I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed as if the guy wont pay that much i will have to take it through insurance and as you say they'll probably write it off as it will cost more than the car's worth to fix!!!

Remove the screw from the punctured tyre and swap it over to the front one. Tell him the impact must have damaged the rim/tyre and get him to put a new one on...It'll serve the idiot right for not looking.

I doubt that will work, but good suggestion... was hardly a full on shunt.

I need some new tyres aby way, so its not like its gonna cost me any extra.

What the hey... its gonna cost him **** loads any way.. and he wasnt happy at all.. he got really stroppy with me and the woman who said shell be a witness.

IIRC when claiming on someone else's insurance they can't write off the car just because it suits them. You can make them put the car back in the state it was originally. Be prepared to fight it though. hth.

...Sorry to see your pride and joy get stuffed up like this mate.

BMW X5, ENOUGH SAID!

Noooooooooooo:eek:oooooooooooooo:eek:ooooooooooooooooooooooo:eek::eek:

your beautiful laurin and klement :(

hope it gets fixed.

let his insurance pay, stupid idiot he should have been looking!

Hope your ok too

I know... was really mad/upset with it... just becasue of his stupid and ignorant driving... my car got knackered!!

If people are going to buy this fancy 4x4's they should learn how to drive them... i mean 4.0 litre engine guzzling all that fuel, hogging all the road, then when they drive/manuevre they dont even bother to look or use the parking sensors fitted to the back that they probably paid like £500 for!!!

Rant over about 4x4's... thanks for listening! hehehe

Seriously though peeps, take note of his number plate and steer clear!!!!! lol

man, hate to see such a nice car in such a mess.

if it does go to insurance the they cant just wright your car off, it dont work that way. and if they say its a cost wright off, then you can make them find you a new L&K. would like to see them try that!!!!!

good luck with it mate, keep us posted.

ps; if it is a wright off, can i have your seats???

Be prepared for it being a write off.

The insurance company will probably give you a valuation from Parkers Guide (which sucks)

Try and find examples for sale (and recent past sales) on the internet

Point them to web pages showing the rarity of L&K Felicias.

You will have to argue your corner.

At the end of the day, if/when it is written off, you will probably be given the option to buy it back from the insurance company for £100/£150 ?

Some insurance companies will let you keep it for nothing as well as paying you its value.

I've just been through all this with a K reg Ren clio RN auto, i was originally offered £250 but ended up with £700 plus kept the car.

.. he got really stroppy with me and the woman who said shell be a witness.

A total a*s wipe then. Hope you stuff him back for shedloads

Sounds like he could do with an introduction to decking :D

Shame about your motor :thumbdwn:

Dont worry people im gonna make sure that i keep her... even if they try and write her off will battle to keep her even if i do have to pay like £150 then use the money i get from insurance to fix her!!

We shall see what happens... cant wait to get this quote and see how much its going to cost... like i say... i reckon its gonna cost at least a grand!!

Think i might get some bull bars welded to the front of it once its repaird and see if he'd like to try it again!! hehehe

oh i'd pay to see that,

a laurin and klement with bullbars, then you can show the 4 x 4 drivers how to drive!

  • Author

Hehehe... exactly... i once nearly did it to my polo, my friend had some bulbars that came off his suzuki jeep that matched up perfectly with the front of the polo, i.e. where the headlights were and front grille and then the bottom of them finished just at the botom of the car.

Sorry to hear about your car mate - accidents are very annoying - I have had a couple. Agree with the pull bar idea - just to force the g*** off the road.

A towbar is good defence for the back of your motor if your interested!

yeah its been my signiture 4 ages!

LOL - nice one. I have had a towbar on the last few cars I have had. Certainly feel slightly safer with it there - except when I bang my shin against it!! :finger:

Wil take around 3/4 days to fix so hopefully should have it next thursday good as new! fingers crossed!
